Have done a combination forecast and combination tricast with 'big fella thanks' , 'tricky trickster' and 'comply or die'.

Will do a couple of patents and lucky 15s but will probably stay clear of the national as, well, it's a bit of a lottery really.

Maljimar is available at 40/1, so your brother hasn't done you any favours.

Certainly NOT, I will not be having a 'flutter' on this cruel sport where many horses die in pain. They should ban it as the horses endure too much for this.

    Enjoy the race

How did you manage to get 100/1? Starting price was 28/1.

I have no idea, I only remember it because my friend )who was from NZ) put the bet on for me. It was a looong time ago, definitely got a ton though.

I hope you paid the tax at the point of putting on the bet rather than on the winnings then!

Only six favourites have won the race in the past 50 years and with last year's winner starting at 100/1 i wouldn't necessarily be too concerned about who is dead set to win!!!

If you have a paper or want to visit the racing post online to have a looksie, keep an eye out for horses who have previously run the aintree course, and finished.

Or just look for a horse with a name that means something to you, or a jockey wearing silks in a colour and pattern that you like, it probably gives you just as much chance as studying the form in a race like this.

I guess that's the obvious thing to do.

Not a betting man but Comply Or Die, just because I like the name :p

Just received the same yearly "I'm betting on Shergar" joke texted to me.. like clockwork.
"In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." - Benjamin Franklin. I'd like to add the shergar sms to that quote.

It's not far off a lottery.

I think they had to keep re-starting the race last year, bought back memories of the year the race was voided due to a false start.

Agree, if people want to race, that is fine, but don't use animals to do it and the national should have been banned years ago.

Never been in a betting shop in my life so far and I can't see myself going in one either.
