Winnie The Pooh has been banned in a small Polish town after councillors said he is of "dubious sexuality, inappropriately dressed and half naked".

They said author AA Milne was "disturbing".

One official is heard saying: 'It doesn't wear underpants because it doesn't have a sex. It's a hermaphrodite.'

She said: 'This is very disturbing but can you imagine! The author was over 60 and cut his [Pooh's] testicles off with a razor blade because he had a problem with his identity.'

Are you sure they didn't watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show by mistake or maybe just read a description of a good party?

Heaven forbid they glance away from the Disney version and realise the original was in his complete birthday suit! :D

On that note, I expect to see all teddy bears in this town fully dressed and secure about their sexuality. Insecurity should not be tolerated.

Surely he's the exact opposite of not having a sex?

If anybody is disturbing then it's the councilors in that village.

Are the Polish councillors aware that Winnie the Pooh isn't real?

Or are sadistically neutered, hermaphroditic, anthropomorphic animals the norm over there?

Wasn't there a similar outrage over Donald Duck a few years back?

He doesn't wear pants when out and about but wraps a towel around his waist when he comes out of the shower!

    1. It would seem not.

    2. Probably.

I'm surprised they haven't banned it for it's name - Winnie sounds like Willy and Pooh is Poo...

He hasn't been banned from a Polish town at all. The town council met to discuss which fictional character they would have as the face of a school playground and Winnie The Pooh was brought up to which they rejected the idea with the statements made. However, he has not been banned at all.

Except they speak Polish in Poland so those similarities carry no weight in Polish.

It's the statements made which is the reason for ridicule, regardless of if WtP is actually banned.

"it's half naked" hahahaha :D The average teddy bear is totally naked, do they ban those too?

It's the silly minds of grown-ups that come up with stupid things like this. Just what exactly are they afraid of?

What would they make of Rainbow?

Two guys who have no bottom half and one hand, one who is a very effeminate hippo sleeping everynight with a naked bear who wears a nightshirt and they all live with a man who has never knowingly engaged in any kind of relationship with any man or woman and his only friends are three singers who look like they could do a dodgy Abba night in a bar in Wolverhampton.

Still, the only thing saying it was banned was the headline and a line in the story with no quote. Everything else says it has just been opposed as the mascot.
