The second one's obviously Ian Curtis. He's from Macclesfield, not Manchester, by the way.

Why do people keep posting these strange quiz questions on here?

Thanks for that answer Belleville 1.

Quiz questions posted on this forum because it says advice and we are loking for advice on the answer to the question.
Everyone is very helpful, which is much appreciated., there is a vast wealth of knowledge out there and it is very nice of people to share it.
Presume you do not object or you not have helped me.
    Thanks again

Isn't Bolton part of Greater Manchester though?

Ian Curtis was born in Manchester (well, Old Trafford), and yes, Bolton is part of Greater Manchester (as is Old Trafford).

    Greater Manchester no longer exists.

He might have been born in some hospital in Manchester, but he certainly grew up, spent most of his life and died in Macclesfield.

I know, but the quiz will probably use a bit of both, so where someone was born will count.

Greater Manchester no longer exists? Since when?

I think you'll find it does. There may no longer be a Greater Manchester County Council but the entity of Greater Manchester is still very much in existence.

Thanks for the Sara Cox answer.
Well maybe asking a question on one thing now opens up the thread for discussion on another.
Do not know much about Manchester so will leave you to it.

Greater Manchester definitely does still exist, I'm from Bury and we have just voted re the congestion charge, and all the boroughs were included in the vote.
It was only a couple of months ago, but i'd forgotten.
My postal address though is Bury, Lancashire, there's no mention of Greater Manchester at all.
    Quite confusing really, lol.
