We now have 17 players altogether, thank you everyone for your interest! I didn't think I'd get this many players for the opening weekend so this is a nice surprise. The first games kick off today so I wish everyone the best of luck and may the best man (or woman) win! :)

Ok, I finally have some stats!

The first 7 games of the Premier League season have finished and the results were:-

    - Manchester United 1-2 Swansea City (12:45pm) - Rooney/Ki, Sigurdsson
    - Leicester City 2-2 Everton - Ulloa, Wood/McGeady, Naismith
    - Queens Park Rangers 0-1 Hull City - Chester
    - Stoke City 0-1 Aston Villa - Weimann
    - West Bromwich Albion 2-2 Sunderland - Berahino x 2/Cattermole, Larsson
    - West Ham United 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur - Dier
    - Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace (5:30pm) - Koscielny, Ramsey/Hangeland

The table after the first day looks like this:-
    1. fab cesc - 35
    2. EPY - 30
    3. DimSum - 25
    4. Renegade Master - 20
    5. ant089 - 15
    5. basdfg - 15
    5. fatsi - 15
    5. U R Correct - 15
    5. willrelf92 - 15
    10. Cuishla - 10
    10. dazc - 10
    10. Phoenix04 - 10
    10. tso - 10
    14. charlieparr - 5
    14. clarky323 - 5
    14. davethecue - 5
    14. topgooner100 - 5
    18. dean michael - 0

So, fab cesc leads the way with 35 points from 7 games - this means he has averaged 5 points a game, the equivalent of predicting a correct scorer for half of the teams involved! The only player yet to predict a correct scorer is dean michael, but there are three games remaining this weekend for him to get some points.

Of the 16 different players who have scored so far, we have selected just over half (9) of them.

Right, today's first game is Liverpool v Southampton and the predictions are:-

    Sturridge (Liverpool) - 10
    Pellè (Southampton) - 9
    Sterling (Liverpool) - 4
    Rodriguez (Southampton) - 2
    Ward-Prowse (Southampton) - 2
    Allen (Liverpool) - 1
    Gerrard (Liverpool) - 1
    Henderson (Liverpool) - 1
    Lambert (Liverpool) - 1
    Cork (Southampton) - 1
    Davis (Southampton) - 1
    Long (Southampton) - 1
    Schneiderlin (Southampton) - 1
    Tadić (Southampton) - 1

Most bets are on Sturridge to score for Liverpool and Pellè to get a debut goal for Southampton. There is a wide range of selected scorers for this match, with 6 different Liverpool players and 8 different Southampton players selected, but who will earn points from this match? We'll soon find out when the match kicks off in ~9 minutes time.

And the result from the first game of today was:-

    - Liverpool 2-1 Southampton (1:30pm) - Sterling, Sturridge/Clyne

This meant everyone gained 5 points with the exception of dazc, davethecue, U R Correct and willrelf.
    -------------------- 01 T
    01. fab cesc-------- 40 40
    02. EPY------------- 35 35

Next up is Newcastle United v Manchester City. The players selected for this game are:-

    Cabella (Newcastle United) - 7
    Agüero (Manchester City) - 6
    Riviere (Newcastle United) - 5
    Dzeko (Manchester City) - 4
    Jovetic (Manchester City) - 3
De Jong (Newcastle United) - 2
    Nasri (Manchester City) - 2
    Silva (Manchester City) - 2
    Colback (Newcastle United) - 1
    Gouffran (Newcastle United) - 1
    S. Taylor (Newcastle United) - 1
    Tioté (Newcastle United) - 1
    Y. Touré (Manchester City) - 1

The predictions are fairly split, but the most predicted scorers for Newcastle United are new signings Cabella and Riviere, whilst a trio of Manchester City strikers have been selected in Agüero, Dzeko and Jovetic. Will any of them earn anyone points in this game?
