Tivo not updating its schedule listings when live TV over-runs
After getting a TiVo box 3 months ago, and being enticed into getting one by the fact it is being marketed as a top-spec, state of the art, 'intelligent' PVR, I'm amazed that when live TV over-runs and the schedules change at the last minute, that TiVo doesn't update itself, as Sky, Freeview & Freesat do.
This has been extremely noticeable over the last few weeks with Wimbledon on the BBC. I've had to look at the EPG on my 2007 Freeview TV to find out the updated schedules, rather than getting them from our shiny new TiVo box! Even more annoying is the effect that this has on any recordings that are set to record AFTER the live programme or event that has over-ran, as TiVo will still record things at their originally scheduled times, so you either get just half of the programme, or if it's showing much later in the evening, none of it at all. I can't wait for the Olympics, what a lovely mess the schedule listings will be on TiVo for that 17 days! |

You have identified a major drawback of the VM TiVo. It does not have a "dynamic" EPG.

This is why I will not "upgrade" from V+HD to TiVO. A dynamic epg would be a reason to upgrade. Some numpty at VM made a decision way back in the negotiations with TiVO to not include this (I appreciate it would need channel suppliers to co-operate too). Big mistake.

Coming from the US ten years ago (where I had TiVo) I was surprised to find TiVo was being phased out. When Virgin resurrected a 'new' TiVo box produced by Cisco (the name for high powered intelligent devices) I was all in.
![]() Much to my surprise, THE main feature of TiVo, the ability to adjust to changing schedules was not included. I could imagine there were cost issues with not having the fully powered, fully functional device Cisco could provide, but not having TiVo servers set up to adjust to changes in the schedule was a great surprise. ![]() In the US TiVo's epg is in house, here they seem to use the same one as all the other Virgin systems use. |

![]() It's a silly omission, particularly when it's available on freeview HDD boxes. |

bearing in mind the actual purpose of a PVR surely its in every VM customers interest that this issue of a non dynamic EPG is addressed?
It cant be that difficult to send a signal to all boxes when necessary can it? |
