I always wanted a laptop, because I really do not want to get into assembling and perpetual upgrading of a computer, finding what goes with what to get an optimal performance. I think I could do it, but it's not something I'd enjoy doing.

Its not important but when it means its up to 3 times as likely to break and be junked then people do.

Of course we can all be taught not to care via non information.
It was information which helped get rid of those similarly designed Compaqs of old.

And where does this "up to 3 times" more likely to break number come from?

Up to 3 times. It wont break more but when it does its more likely to be instant junk.

So it's not 3 times more likely to break as you said in the first instance

Check your web history books on Compaq proprietary computers.

Stuff coming back like soldered in RAM was abandoned years ago.

Welcome to the future

You only need to look in the engine of a modern car to see that most modern items are getting that way. TV's are the same - not much you can do if one breaks now.

Well they still do use bolts for the car engine.

Seems an interesting design.

I do hope they have it that when the non removable(I'm assuming it is non removable) 24GB SSD goes tits up it can simply default 100% onto the hard drive.

Does that have the ICEpower speakers?
If so, I read that fiddling with the speaker settings can improve the sounds lots.

I'm sure it will have an auto HDD feature for the soldered in SSD.
It would make little sense not to on a Microsoft laptop.

Why are you assuming (not sure why) the SSD will definitely break during the use life of this machine?

Also the SSD is only used for ISRT so if the BIOS can no longer detect the SSD, it will simply disable ISRT.

I'm not but it is always best to cover the issue.

With their finite lifespan they can be killed off in just one days use of a buggy misbehaving app.
