Maybe that is the secret between him and Lauren. Would definitely be exciting.
Maybe that'll bring in to the fold Joey/Laurens relationship- whether she can tell him the truth or not.
She'll protect her dad- her family and then finally it will be revealed- leading to the departure of Joey and Alice.

It would be a more interesting theory, but can poisoning give you a heart attack? Because with his left arm, that signals a heart attack.

The funeral happens pretty quick, so nothing is detected in the body to give the police cause to investigate, or else the body wouldn't be buried as soon.

Yes, I think it will be confirmed as a heart attack. That cause of death in itself was a shocker to those who presumed he'd be murdered.

When Derek died, nobody knew whether he was hamming, or had a knife in his pocket - he was so beyond reason and feeling.

And Max wanted him GONE - DEAD even.

And he died.

Death is complicated a lot of the time. Max has a shedload of mixed feelings doubt and complication to try to deal with.

I thought Max's refusal to identify the body was fine. And I thought to do it was courageous.

Must admit I thought Max's reaction was because of the argument he'd had with Derek pre-Dec's death. Incidently, I believe it was the right thing to kill Derek off - he'd had his good year.

Not a shocker for me, just a disappointment. I never liked Derek tbh, always thought he was very panto villian, but a who dunnit might have livened things up a bit.

I don't think Max killed him as others are suggesting. Like you just said in your post he was in shock but at the sae time he probably felt a bit guilty about not realising Derek was having a heart attack and not doing anything to help because however horrible the man was he was still his brother.
