Which beach should I visit tomorrow?

Inspired by today's lovely weather, I've decided tomorrow should be the first beach trip of 2010.

Living in south east england, my choices are Brighton, Bournemouth, Southend-on-Sea, Clacton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth etc etc

What are my other options? Where do you think is the greatest beach of South East England?

Littlehampton although will be busy...lots of kiddies.

Southend on sea full of black tar.

Brighton pebbly and dirty and at the back of the beach it smells of wee.

you must like your beaches mate - Gt Yarmouth or Bournemouth?! (250 miles apart)

Brighton is good entertainment wise but beach-wise don't like the rockiness.

My mate keeps going on about how Bognor is up and coming due to regeneration there, so maybe worth a look if you've not been?

Branksome Chine in Poole (next to Bournemouth but still within reach).

i spent many a childhood family holiday there and it was always really clean and pleasant.

I f you don't mind travelling to your beaches, which you obviously don't, I'd suggest Lulworth Cove in Dorset. Some wonderful fossils there;)

I advise you to pick somewhere out of the way, hard to get to and quiet.

I live 200 yards from a beach and today it is full of chavvy loud mouthed oiks from the city who think they are in Benidorm.

Tomorrow the beach will be full of empty beer cans, used disposable bar b qs, used condoms, dirty nappies and dog turds.

How I wish the train didn't stop in my village.

I live nearly slap bang in the middle so they are all possibilities.

Thanks for some of the suggestions, I'm looking in to them now :D

Greatstone, it has that true beachy feeling to it. More than just a nice day out, it really makes you feel like "Yeeeh baby, I'm at the coast!!!"

It's the Brighton Marathon tomorrow therefore I wouldn't recommend Brighton as I don't think you'll be able to get here too easily.

For that reason Botany Bay in Broadstairs (Kent) is THE best beach in the south east. Love it.

It's always "warm enough for beaches", - but maybe not for sunbathing. Wrap up warmly, enjoy the cold sea air and the quality of the light :) (but not telling you where my favourite ones are..)

Norfolkpoppy, - been good hasn't it, - I got my first sunburn of the year
