Didn't Italy choke their jury performance though?

I'm actually shocked that Italy won the televote and not the jury! If you'd have asked me to predict which one they'd do better in, I'd definitely have said jury, I think a fair few of us would have?

    two things to say:

    1. the ball things during the opening routine were amazing.
    2. our song sucked big time.

I think we need to stop thinking that certain songs are jury bait etc.

Italians must have finished relatively poorly in the jury vote to finish a distant 3rd.

I'm guessing the juries this year decided to vote on chart potential, hence Sweden being given such an almighty boost.

Yeah, just goes to show its not easy to predict what juries will do. I thought they'd like a bot of popera!

This is the problem though, it's a contest between just a few hyped songs, the others are never put on an equal level of judgement. That affects some of these televotes as well as people are just trying to back the winner in many of them. A few are more independantly minded, but not enough.

Why on earth would people want to vote for a song because it's "more likely to win"?? There's nothing in it for televoters who get the right answer?

This makes no sense at all

And "hyped" is a subjective thing - one country's commentator may say one thing about a song, another country's commentator another thing

Or if by hyped you mean it was favourite with the bookies - well, that's because they are the songs that the betting public think will win. And in this years case, they were spot on

Hyped by the media would be the Finnish entry - they had a spot on the national BBC News prior to the first semi final, and I would have assumed that other countries picked up on the back story as well

    They came last

This years (and last years actually) shows that we don't really need juries. Juries do not stop this "political voting", such as Azerbaijan and Armenia disliking each other. Yeah, sure, it may help dissolve diaspora voting, but as shown in the last 2 years (and maybe before that? but we didn't get a breakdown then, right?) political voting has NOT decided the winner...

Sweden only came third in the public vote? Really? :o I thought Italy would be more jury fodder to be honest.

I thought Italy were a little flat tonight; it wasn't as rousing as I expected to be though tuning-wise faultless so I'm kind of please they didn't win. Russia for obvious reasons.

Maybe Italy had tuning issues during their jury performance? I can't remember it being mentioned at the time but I was dozing off by that point.

I would not be surprised if we had Melfest style lip syncing next year.

    Dolly Style 2016 anyone?
