Iceland won this year's Good Housekeeping best mince pie competition, beating out upscale supermarkets - and that means the likes of Harrods, not just Waitrose and M&S. Just had one and it was great. They have several entries on the Food Quality Award shortlist. It's pure snobbery to dismiss Iceland out of hand - try it before you diss it.

Iceland is just one of many supermarkets that I visit. The trick is to keep an eye on prices. Most of us buy more or less the same things week on week. If for instance, rice has gone up in Morrisons, I get it from Farm Foods.
