Anyone remember the name of this film? (Vague description)
Can anyone remember this particular film? I remember watching it with my Dad many years ago. I cannot remember who is in it or how along ago it was made.
The storyline is about a talented boxer who goes "on the run" after committing or being accused of a crime. He hides out under an assumed name working at a boys club or home. The club/home is short on funds. The hero of the tale fights against a boxing champion giving exhibitions to hopefully win some cash. A detective/policeman is pursuing the said hero.
It is a fairly old film and not considered a classic I can imagine. Please excuse the vague details.
Anyone possibly remember the title?

Sadly it is not Fat City. Thank you anyway.
The Champ (1931)
I dont think its that one though either
Define 'fairly old'. 1920s? 1970s? If you don't know, then was it in black and white or colour?
Good question - thank you! I would say1950s/60s and very likely in black and white.
I thought I would resurrect my 4 year old thread in the hope that someone still may remember this film!

I actually found the film a while ago, but forgot to pass it on to you. Sorry!
KINDERMAN: Yeah, it's true. You do look like a boxer. John Garfield, in Body and Soul. Exactly John Garfield. anyone told you that Father?
KARRAS: Do people tell you look like Paul Newman?
KINDERMAN: Always.
I loved Fat City - great movie with brilliant characters. They literally don't make movies like that any more (sadly)
It’s Carry on Camping.
