(Amazon) Super Saver Delivery carrier??
Super Saver Delivery carrier
Anyone know exactly what or who that is?
Is it just another term for the regular morning postal delivery? I'm waiting for an item from Amazon that was dispatched Tuesday and still hasn't turned up.
Have you ever sent for something that was dispatched with this carrier, how long did it take after you got your dispatch email for it to arrive?? Thanks

Use Play.com. They never charge delivery.
I got a camera from them last month and also selected free delivery, it arrived the day after it was sent by "Home Delivery Network"
It will probably arrive tomorrow, although i've ALWAYS selected free delivery from Amazon and they've arrived very quickly, certainly hasn't been worth paying the extra for faster delivery.
I quite often find their books and dvd's the same price or cheaper than amazon who do charge delivery. You have to look around and get the cheapest deal. Sometimes it can be amazon but more often than not for me it is Play.
Just went and checked a dvd at random. Extras series 2 was £6.99 at Play with free postage. £It was 6.98 at amazon and the postage bumped it up to £8.44. I take it the extra penny that Play charged for the dvd was factoring in the postage?
I try to avoid it wherever possible now.
Basically freelance couriers so they work when they want to althought they're supposed to do so within Amazon's guidelines.
I really shouldn't have been so tight and paid the extra for first class delivery. I suppose ultimately you get what you pay for (or don't pay for in this instance)
I find Amazon is one of the most expensive if you count the postage.
When was the last time play sold garden ponds, Rolex watches and Prosimmon graphite golf clubs? And their books are ridiculously expensive compared to Amazon. I always check Amazon first, then (if its CDs or DVDs) CD Wow, DVD Plus, Blah DVD, Play, Choices UK, and 101 CD. Play are sometimes the cheapest, sometimes its onw of the others, but normally it's Amazon. Particularly as Play's "New and Used" prices are normally a quid less than they sell it at - on Amazon, you can get stuff "New and Used" for less than half the Amazon price.
I rarely buy things for less than fifteen quid anyway, so can't remember the last time I paid postage on anything that came from Amazon rather than one of their marketplace sellers. And it still normally arrives within a couple of days.

I've never found that. I've just been going through both sites comparing prices and I can't see how Play is so much more expensive than Amazon. Everything I have looked at is the same price, cheaper or a couple of pence more than amazon. I'm sure if you search enough you will find something that is a quid or so more expensive to try and prove your point but when the postage for a book at amazon is over a quid anyway...
I used Amazon for many years for my books and dvd's but got sick of the postage. That's why I use Play.com now.
I bought 'The Perrin Technique' from Play.com the other day. It cost me £11.49 with free postage. Just looked on Amazon to compare, I wasn't eligible for Super Saver so it would have cost me £14.29 with postage.
Okay Debbie, we'll have to agree to disagree. The first book I looked at, when I clicked on the books tab at the top of Play.com, was a Terry Pratchett book called Making Money. I've never heard of it, not a Terry Pratchett fan, but I made a note of what play were charging for it then went to find it on Amazon. Amazon were charging a tenner, Play were charging twelve quid. And this is Play's Editor's Choice - the book they are pushing this week. Where you can get it for two quid less at the much better known online book shop. I didn't bother looking up any more - as you say, it will be swings and roundabouts between the two as to who is cheapest on any one particular book, that's why I just thought I'd compare the first book that Play showed me.
I've no problem with Play - sometimes it works out cheaper. But not normally.
Sorry, this is going to sound pedantic but it worked out that Amazon was 75p more expensive if you included the postage on that item. If you were buying more than one book and qualified for super saver then fine but if you only want to buy one book... Play allows you to do that.
I think I've got too much time on my hands getting involved in this!!:);)
