The equivalent episode of EE last year featured Pat's funeral. Was it such a big episode last night? (Not being sarcastic, I genuinely don't know, but I haven't heard anything.)
Fridays episodes, was certainly nothing as high profile as "Pats funeral"

Meanwhile even if Fridays episode was 1 million down year on year, its 1 million (possibly more) up on two months ago, which is the really important figure

 BBC1 had a comedy that tanked on a Friday night, ITV did better with theirs (on a - err, Friday night) - this is a Ratings Thread, so comparisons and comments can be made that might not always suit certain channels fans. Quite simple really - but in your logic you won't discuss a poorer (or better) figure on another channel on the same night for a similar type of programme genre -
Yes that logic makes real sense on a Ratings Thread - you also seem to have a problem with singular & plural - nowhere in my post did I mention "any ITV comedy" or "BBC comedies" - reread the post, it is in reference to 1 comedy show on BBC1 in comparison to 1 comedy show on ITV1
A few people on here commented on here about GNO's rating and you suddenly have to bring up a BBC1 comedy's rating from a few months ago purely because the BBC1 comedy did worse. Seems a bit childish really to turn into my show on my favourite channel did better than your show on your favourite channel contest. Yawn! Yawn Yawn!

And they aren't really similar, one is a comedy drama, targetting young males in January, an hour in length and the other was a 30 minute sitcom, targetting females that ran in November/December against different competition.

The main thing in common is they both went get a second series! ;)

You think Itv will be happy with a big new hyped up comedy starring Ricky Tomlinson in a major slot in the dark cold days of January with Coronation Street lead in getting only 3.4mill? They obviously were hoping for a million better if not more.

So EE at 8.1m on a Friday night. Down 1m on the same episode last year though so maybe the crisis is continuing. ;)

Corrie is up y-o-y whilst Emmerdale is dead level. .

Nothing at all to do with the fact that the equivalent episode last year was the funeral of a major character.

Nor the fact that said episode overlapped with Corrie, thus denting Corrie's figure.

True although I can't help but notice that there hasn't been a great rush to compare Great Night Out with Benidorm. A one hour comedy that aired on ITV in the same Friday 9PM slot as Great Night Out during Q1 in 2012 and 2011 (albeit starting a month later). Surely that would be the more suitable comparison.

Ah, so that was just simply your opinion! So no basis of fact what so ever, despite presenting it as a statement of fact. Apologies, I'm following you now.

Maybe it's had a fair amount of on air promotion because ITV thought Friday at 9pm is a tough slot, it's very difficult to launch a new comedy & therefore needed a lot promotional support - maybe 3.8m will be within their expectations. The truth is, we don't actually know do we.

So The Big Bang Theory exceeded 2m again on E4 last night.

If it doesn't move to C4 next series then they've lost the plot.

Agree you can't really compare a big episode to a normal episode. Plus like you said it's stil up a million or so on how it had been doing. So iny book that's good news :)

We must leave Roscoe alone he is still burnt from his prediction that Downton would beat EE on Christmas Day.:D

No last night was just a normal Friday night episode.

Don't forget last year's ep was not only 40mins long but also featured a Brief return from an 80's character (Simon wicks) right at the end too.

I'm surprised Roscoe didn't mention that.;)
Why is Roscoe always so desperate to spin the figures?

    Exactly.
Now EastEnders thrashed Emmerdale in the clash on 27th December but nothing was said....However they clash again on Tuesday 22nd with Emmerdale having the lead in. I suspect it will be a different story this time around:yawn:

I enjoyed Great Night Out. The trailer looked like something I've seen before but actually I ended up watching it and enjoyed it

Why don't they just report the BBC Two figures combined with the HD figures rather than separately?

What ratings could it get on C4? If it gets the same or just slightly more then there's no point. Only if they know it'll benefit the show - e.g Miranda's move from BBC2 to BBC1.

The Inbetweeners got 3m on E4 (4m inc +1) but they didn't bother moving that to C4.

Splash tonight, I believe it could grow slightly on last week's figure. Can't see it falling below 5m however.

The only reason I could see to move The Big Bang Theory at this point is Channel 4 get serious about launching a comedy night on Channel 4. In that instance having a relatively big hitter like Big Bang as the centre piece of the block (as it currently is on E4) makes all kinds of sense. If however its just going to be The Big Bang Theory awkwardly scheduled between editions of Million Pound Drop its hard to see what the point is. Plus you have to weigh the potential damage to E4 and the E4 comedy block.

Curiosity could see Splash grow, lack of football could see Britain's Brightest do a bit better too. I can't call it.
