Is the samsung galaxy S4 mini currently the best iphone-sized android device?

Shame if it is, the screen looks a bit crap (not full HD, not even 720p HD like the galaxy S3), and it only has 8gb of internal memory space - thats not a lot to install apps on, because apparently apps can't be put onto the memory card
also, what are your opinions of the s4 mini?

True it does have expandable storage but that isn't a must for everyone I can certainly survive without it. I agree it does have half a gig of ram more not sure how much difference this will make. Battery life in my opinion always comes down to optimization of the skins. I can easily get through a day which is what everyone needs on it's bigger brother. I think 1800 will be fine for this if it is optimized well s4 mini only has 1900 so it not a massive difference of any stretch of the imagination. I've never seen the battery life thing as a major thing as long as it gets me to 6-7PM at night that's all that it needs.
I think it is going come down to individual opinions with this if you want better video quality and audio the HTC one mini is obvious the winner in that fight. If you want expandable memory and more ram and removable battery than the S4 mini is the winner. Also obviously if you prefer sense or touchwiz is also an element to consider. Also the debate is also if you think the ultra pixel camera is better or you would rather have an 8mp camera.
Good point that is a good mid range phone as well. 4.6 inch 720p display. Can't remember anything particularly noteworthy of ofhand about this. Don't think it is water resistant like it's big brother.
one feature that i didn't think i'd use but actually use it loads is NFC great for turning settings on/off in certain locations.
Interesting I still haven't ever used on my phone as far as I can recall.
can you check if you can install apps onto the SD card?
I'm getting conflicting info on this, apparently you can......
its kinda lame if it can't be done, because theres only 8gb of internal memory
also, hows the screen resolution then? does it look like 480p videos on youtube?
Yeah you can install apps to memory card.
I had the S2 before and the screen resolution doesn't seem any different from that if i'm being honest
NFC is Near Field communication
one example I use it to turn wifi on and mobile data off at home
it's really handy for saving battery.
Big thing for me was wanting fairly new phone as i was commiting to 2 years so wanted a fairly future proof phone. so LTE, 4.22 etc but with decent specs
out of all the phones i looked at the S4 mini was the best one.
out of all the phones you've mentioned none are LTE are they?
So you have NFC switched on (which takes a little juice to run) in order to do something that you can easily handle with a home screen toggle .... ?
Future proof and phones - the two do not go together. Just be happy with your purchase
My ex picked up an S3 Mini. She likes it. Not the greatest phone in the world, but it does all that she wants - and thats all you can ask of any such gadget.
I don't get this. There are apps for turning on wifi when you are at home (based on your local cells), but this has nothing to do with NFC unless you have some kind of NFC "base" that you check in to when you get home.
Paint me confused
It uses less battery than keeping mobile data on when not needed for example.
I often forgot to switch stuff off when not using so as if said this saves my battery
sorry should have been clearer.
I bought some nfc tags off ebay. 1 have on my phone cradle which switches bluetooth and gps on.

like this
That is bluetooth, not NFC.
As far as I know, NFC is 100% static at zero data transfer.
Cheers I'll have a look
What, you mean it doesn't use any power at all? Not possible ....
