win7 deleting downloads

win7 has started deleting every file that I download.
It either states it contains a virus (when they are main stream ok files) or just deletes it.
I have noticed that the last file that I downloaded in my downloads folder was back in April.

I have tried backing ie to 7, but hasn't altered.

If you want proper advice rather than just guesses you`ll need to be a bit more forthcoming and clearer with your information.

Windows 7 doesn't just delete files so there must be something wrong with your set up. Are all your Windows updates up to date? What antivirus program do you have installed? Is it up to date and updating itself regularly? Do you have any other anti malware programs Installed and running, if so, what?

Describe what you are trying to download and what browser you are using eg Internet Explorer 10? Chrome? Firefox?

Can you get into Safe mode with networking ie by tapping F8 (usually, as the system boots)? If so, try to run an antivirus scan - post back the result. Also try to download the FREE version of Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

If it too is blocked from downloading then it`s a sure sign your PC is infected. Go here for a tutorial on using a slightly different version of Malwarebytes:

If you sort it out in the meantime post back and tell us what you did.

Thanks, but I have sorted it.
I found this on YouTube..."How to fix internet explorer download error this program contained a virus and was deleted"
Had to go into regedit and delete 'scan downloads for viruses'

Ok, glad you sorted it. Fuller instructions for removal here should anybody else encounter the same Zero Access rootkit problem:
