I've never hated a character as much, before or since. I absolutely despised him and he ruined EE for me as long as he was in it. Thank goodness he is gone and can never come back.
But apart from that, no strong feelings about him either way
I didn't like the character of Derek, but I do like Jamie Foreman and I know he could have played a brilliant Derek if the writing/stories were better or if he'd come in under a better EP than Birkwood. The best part of the Derek we got on screen was his comedy moments: he could really hit the right spot in those scenes. Everything else was panto.
