    Short new trailer: http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/04/19/dexter-final-season-trailer/

Obviously, avoid if you don't want to know anything!

I was hoping they'd keep the definite decision on whether season 8 was the last as a secret to make the end even more unpredictable. Now we know that everything from episode 1 is just the build up to the final episode.

They've done the same pre-announcement of it being the final season with other shows where I just end up thinking there's not many episodes left to either clear up loose ends or improve the final season, and usually end up disappointed.

Hopefully Dexter will be different as it sounds like they've planned the end from the beginning of season 7 (if not before even that) instead of trying to tack on an extra season as it felt they did with Fringe.

Also, not having read any of the books, it will be interesting to compare the end of the show to the books afterwards to see if they've kept fairly true (as with Game of Thrones) or gone down a different and not necessarily better path.

Well, they had originally wanted Season 7 to be the last one and were coerced into an eighth (by Showtime, presumably), so you'd assume that whatever ending they'd hoped to do originally has now in fact had more time to be fully fleshed out. I have faith that they won't screw this one up :)

    More casting news:
Vladimir Bierko from Season 5 of 24 has been cast.

The eighth and final season of Dexter is beefing up on guest stars.

Showtime confirms Dexter Season 8 will be the final season

TVGuide.com has learned exclusively that 24 villain Julian Sands will appear on Dexter. Sands, whose TV credits also include Smallville, Castle and Person of Interest, will play Miles Foster, a wealthy international businessman. Further details on his role are being kept under wraps.

Last week, Showtime confirmed that Dexter's eighth season will be its last. The final season will include appearances by Yvonne Strahovski, Darri Ingolfsson, Charlotte Rampling and Sean Patrick Flanery, among others.

It's struck me, I really want justice for James Doakes, no way should he have his name tarnished with the bay harbour butcher, and as much as laguerta grated me she didn't deserve to die. I know Debs killed but she wouldn't of if Dex wasn't the BHB

I think I'm gonna be pissed if dexter isn't caught and executed tbh

Epic trailer, I'm so psyched for this!

    Opinions of the trailer:
I can't believe how utterly ****ed up Deb is gonna be! We knew from previous teasers that she wasn't in a good way, but she appears to be 100% off the tracks and a complete train wreck... Is that Hannah we see Dexter carrying? I'm having trouble gauging whether Dr Vogel is after Dexter, or if she's indeed a killer. As someone specialising in psychological things and studying brains, she'd seem like a potential candidate for the killer removing bits from people's heads, as we saw. Only six weeks!!!! :D

Seeing as it starts in the UK July 7th will people be downloading from Torrents or will they wait for it to come on to Fox a week later - assuming you have Fox?

It's only a week behind so I'll be watching this one on Fox.

    Good trailer, looks like
Angel didn't retire after all, and is now LT or acting LT in Deb's absence? And they've now got a different kid playing Harrison.

How do you see this season ending?

I think the creative team have said in the past (ie, several seasons ago) that...
the only way they could see Dexter ending is with his death - they felt that him being caught and arrested would undermine the series

Of course, it could all change!

The recent quotes from the cast and production team suggest that things won't end well for Dexter. Makes me think he'll get away with it (which I hope he will).

    I reckon that
Deb will kill him and take Harrison. It's the only viable ending I can see. They can't allow Dexter to get away with it, as it offers no closure for anything really. Debra will suffer mentally forever as a result. So then the options are this: he goes to prison or dies. Sending him to prison just undermines the series and him as a character - I think it will end with Dexter on the run from the police and pleading with Deb to end it

I think last season should have ended with Dexter getting arrested and this new season could have been about his trial. I really hate dexter now as a character.

This will be the first time in many years i'll actually be watching at UK pace since Fox will only be a week behind the states, but looking forward to it very much though.

Gotta agree with the people above, it seems the logical way to end the show and feels like what they have been building up to the last few seasons with Deb finding out about Dex.

Anyway, looking forward to this, been a great show!

Just had a horrible thought - is Deb going to end up on the table to avoid spilling the beans?

Thought that was a really good opener and...
Charlotte Rampling was great, loving that addition for the final season.

Good take on what we can expect for the rest with Dexter seeming to lose it quite a bit. Seems like the beginning of his downfall begins here.

The leaked version i've just seen online has apparently been edited "for language and nudity" ??. I haven't downloaded it and don't intend to, but it seems rather strange ..

Yeah that's right, it's a rip from online and was edited at nudity parts saying to go onto showtime or whatever. I won't go into details, it's perfectly watchable but there's a certain scene that is censored regarding a certain woman that some will likely want to see :p

Swearing being censored usually wouldn't be much of a problem, but this does involve Debra 'Fu*king' Morgan.
