I'm almost scared to post this link in case the mentalist Gareth Gates arguments start up again, but still in the interest of sharing news, this story was on the BBC entertainment website.

Oh dear, poor Gareth. Maybe he could go in for X Factor?

I'm more concerned about how he looks in the photograph, it's truly frightful

I thought that would have been obvious by looking at it ;)

Personally I think it looks like a photofit! His forehead looks longer than his face which looks squashed in the middle, his hair looks fake. Never mind X factor, he looks as if he has overdosed on Max Factor

I am deeply saddened by this news about Gareth.
No, I'm not a young fan, I really like him. A good looking and talented lad, that hasn't in my mind, had a fair deal from Sony/BMG.

Sure he made a lot of money for them, and himself.

8 Number 1 hits in South Africa, Sell out concerts in Asia. That was never publicised. All the hits and concerts he had here. I would say they definately had their pound of flesh.

Gareth is too big a talent to just disappear. He will be back.

May I add I totally hate how awful some people can be on this site. It demeans them and is very unattractive to let people know, how petty and small minded you are.

Well clearly at that age he felt old enough to make a decision to sleep with her and to then go on and deny it. Age doesn't come in to it. He had sex with Jordan and then lied to save his face. Didn't work, did it?

True, but put yourself in his situation, he would have had to have admitted it to his family - which would have been highly embarassing for him, he did what most teenagers would do and lie.(how many times did you lie when you were a teenager?)it's just because he's so famous thats somehow what would be a fairly trivial lie, turned out to be so damaging.i think he learnt the hard way, poor chap.

and on another note, simon cowell should be kept away from any promising talent (in the loosest sense of the word)
Hes had more failure than any other a&r men..gareth, michelle mcmanus, sam and mark, steve brookstein..yet somehow he still commands respect on these talent shows, someone should tell paula abdul to mention steve brookstein to simon on american idol..

Lots of teenagers think they are old enough and wise enough to make a decision only to later realise that they were out of their depth. Just because you are legally allowed to make a decision about having sex at 17 doesn't mean that you will understand all the consequences. The fact that he believed her when she said she wanted to keep it secret too smacks of being unwordly, which still isn't illegal. If it was, at least Gareth would be tried as a juvenille!

"age doesn't come into it" - no but maturity and naivete do.

Some 17 year olds are very mature and seem older than their years, others are the opposite.

Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone has their mistakes trumpeted to the world via the press.

I don't think that this is necessarily the end of the road for him, he has a good 'pop' voice, he is good-looking, and seems a nice lad.
There are plenty of ways for a talented performer to make a living from singing, and they are not to be sneered at just because the Simon Cowell's of this world sneer at them.

Many talented people work in pubs, clubs, theatres, bars, casino lounges, hotels, holiday camps, cruise ships etc etc etc - this doesn't mean they are failures. And it makes me mad when this kind of work is looked upon like that. There is no shame in it.

If Gareth wants to continue making a living as a singer, there are many ways he can do that. He is already a step ahead of some people because he has a Management company (19) behind him.

There are many bands/artists from the 60's/70's etc who are still working on the back of one (or a couple) of hits. They make a good living and still have a large following. It doesn't always have to be number 1's all the time. Unless, of course, the only reason for going to showbiz was to be rich & famous.

Its just a shame that the music industry today doesn't have any room for occasional flops. An artist has to learn his/her craft and there has to be room for the occasional 'mistake.'
Well that's how it used to be.
Now it seems like 'one strike and you're out.'

But she knew more about what she was doing. My God, she had tried to seduce Darius but he was old enough to know better. I doubt she tried Willbecause she has a good Gaydar. There was no publicity as I remember and it made sense now. There was no way that album was meant to succeed. At BMG you do as you are told. Will got awaw with it, he was a huge hit but Kelly Clarkson went elsewhere. BMG are bad new both for pop and develping of artists.

Now that you mention Darius, seems like he is not doing so shabbily these days according to this http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=16949012%26method=full%26siteid=66633%26headline=darius%2d%2dmillion%2dpound%2dlovenest-name_page.html
