What's the point of relationships when they always end?

They always end, either you break up or one of you dies. Breakups or being outlived by a partner can result in months or even years of depression, misery, stress and in some cases self harming or suicide. When a relationship ends it basically means however long you were with the person was wasted; all memory are tainted and the time is lost forever. The global population is narrowing in on seven billion so it's not even as if we need to reproduce anymore.

So why do people bother?

Because the pros outweigh the cons.

With that logic why bother with life you always die so why not just top yourself now.

I will not bother again i have not been single since i was about 16.

They cause too much heartache and I genuinly love being on my own with no one else to consider or think about.

I think more people should try it. The way humans feel they need a partner is strange. life is better without for me

It's an amazing feeling being in love though, being cuddle up to that special someone, making memories together.

Everything is going to end someday, why not enjoy it all while we can.

Because life would be incredibly dull and lonely if you went through it all completely alone*

    * - in general I mean - some people I know are perfectly happy being single and don't feel the need or desire to be in a relationship.

Yeah but the difference is you're stuck with life whereas people CHOOSE to be in relationships.

Yeah but you get what you pay for in this life.

No sex results in horrible things like STIs and children.

Yeah but my point is you get no choice whether to be born or not. You're thrust into it because of your parents failure to use birth control and have to deal with it.

You don't HAVE to deal with it. You can end it if it concerns you that much.

You're no more stuck with life than you are a relationship. If you find either one's not working out for you, you can end it. Both are gonna end anyway at some point, so as whip says, why bother preserveering at all?

What are they going to do if they arrest you for it? Lock up your corpse?

Indeed - I am going to go home, sling the OH out and live a life of celibacy

OP - have you ever had a fulfilling relationship? :o

Granted lots of relationships do not last, but the memories and lessons you take from them do!

But why bother with a relationship in the first place?

Oh yeah, the number of dead people charged with suicide is reaching epidemic proportions. ;)

The way the laws of this country are going, I wouldn't be surprised.
