Apparently Michelle Knight was gang-raped prior to being kidnapped, in a totally unrelated incident that was nothing to do with Ariel Castro; how can one person be so unlucky? I will try to think of poor Miss Knight next time I curse my lot in life, & be thankful I'm not her, I hope the rest of her life is filled with good things.
I feel sorry for Michelle Knight the most. As a result of the gang rape, she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy. She was about to go to court to fight custody for her son, when she was abducted.
Her son was adopted. Then the poor girl had to endure five miscarriages - luckily managed to save Amanda's baby's life. On top of all that she was beaten about and lost her hearing in one ear - unlucky indeed.
On a happy note, I read somewhere that Michelle hopes to be reunited with her 13yr old son.:)
They need to be compensated, the American government should award them substantial damages, I'd say about £500k each.
I don't know what the government will give them in victim's compensation, that probably takes some time. I am definitely giving to one of the funds once i identify the most legit and that the money will go to the right place.
"I promise you that what Castro is charged with creating in Cleveland—a “home” where three women were allegedly held in ropes and chains, beaten and raped, where children were either enslaved or aborted—will turn out to be a magnified version (perhaps 2X, perhaps 100X) of the home in which he was raised."
"[Castro] was behind with payments for his home, and repossession loomed."
As a consequence of losing his bus driver's job due to very erratic behaviour. So he had 3 choices in his hands:
1) Borrow/obtain money until he got another job
2) Kill the women(and his daughter) and dispose of their bodies
3) Accept looming repossession and give himself up
"In the world the women left behind, a gallon of gas cost about $1.80. Barack Obama was a state senator. Phones were barely taking pictures. Things did not “go viral.” There was no YouTube, no Facebook, no iPhone."

Maybe he could have appealed for unemployment benefits until his next job. A growing problem for him was the 6 year old. Someone could eventually notice she was not in school (as she was seen at the window).
It's terrible for the young women and their families to have suffered like this. Hope they are able to find a way to cope what has happened to them and live as normal a life as they can.
I just wanted to add a young woman was abducted in Michigan called Jessica Heeringa, she was abducted from the gas station she worked at and I pray that she doesn't get held captive for years. Her little boy needs her home soon.

Well if I win the lottery then a large sum will be winging its way.
