The child-eater is the main thing that sticks out for me. Very iconic.

I'd go along with that, yes.

Although I can`t give an alternative off the top of my head, I wouldn`t say that .....but it was good.

I especially appreciated the darker elements.

No, but then no film was. There were some very good ones, a load of okay ones, quite a few not so good one, and a few clunkers. Par for the course, really.

    Regards

I love this movie! I always place it in my top 10 of favourite movies of all time.

It is definitely one of the best of recent times. I was in tears at the end. Very emotional and captivating film.

    No, I can't agree.

One of the good ones, but there are films I have enjoyed more and watch more frequently than this one:

    Batman Begins (2005)
    City of God (2002)
    The Departed (2006)
    The Dark Knight (2008)

    to name a few.

It's a wonderful film but probably not the best of the last decade.

I love the film but it is just a smidgy bit too bleak for me to call it the best.
The end part is certainly the closest a film has come to making me cry though.

I think most people will agree it's one of the best but the best might be pushing it.

Looking at my IMDB rating history, other films I've really enjoyed from the past decade include...

    Doubt
    Gosford Park
    Hot Fuzz
    In Bruges
    Inglourious Basterds
    Planet Terror
    Spirited Away
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

... but my number one film of the past decade is the Korean film Oldboy.

One of the best, I'd say. I couldn't pick an absolute best.

Straight shootout between Pan's Labyrinth and City Of God for me.

I found it a slightly above mediocre affair from a slightly above mediocre director.

Batman Begins is such an underrated film and always gets overshadowed by The Dark Knight. I'd say that Pan's Labyrinth is definitely one of the greatest fantasy films ever made on par with The Lord of the Rings.

Batman Begins IMO is far far far superior to The Dark Knight as much as I love TDK I just think BB is fantastic.

Pans Labyrinh is fantastic but like other there are more films I have prefered -

    Memento
    The Prestige
    to name a couple

Great film- not the best film ever though. I love Spirited Away- have watched it over 15 times! My copy skips now and has scratches all over it!

A great film and I agree with all the other suggestions alongside:

    There will be blood
    A serious man

And to chuck in a couple of comedies:

    Pineapple express
    Superbad
