I had meant to say when I lived in London I never said thanks because nobody else ever did. I thought it was a bit strange at first when people said thanks here but I decided to join in anyway!
anyways one thing i noticed is generally a lot of people dont say it, i say it everytime and i hear a few other people say it sometimes.. sometimes the bus driver will nod his head and say somein but some of them just blank you
The question im asking is are you meant to say thanks
The only buses we get in our village is the school specials. However I have been known to toddle to the next village to get a bus. I always thank the driver.
Hundreds of years ago I was a bus conductress with a small serving the community bus company. Being a Clippie was the best job I have ever had. I' will be first in the queue if clippie jobs are advertised or wanted again.
I think a bring back clippies petition should be started
The drivers here don't even speak to you when you give them your money ( firstbus stirling) i have never seen such a group morose people so i would not waste my breath on them!
yes i always say thanks but not if i exit the middle door like another poster:o:D and not when the driver either drives off without letting you sit down or when you ding the bell to get off and they carry on driving:mad::D
i only find it awkward when you say 'thanks' and they say have a nice day/bye:p
I say thanks too. My mum brought me up to have manners. I always say please, thank you and excuse me and when im in shops i talk to the staff with respect. Its not difficult.
I think they should bring back clippies as well, attractive female ones like in "On the Buses". Attractive by today's standards that it, not the standards of the 70s.

I always say thank you. It is polite. I would thank the train driver too but he is harder to find these days.

I appreciate them but if they are grumpy and impolite, as a couple on my route are, I swear under my breath when I get of.
