New BBC drama starting in a few weeks. Looks good, however I wonder if this is loosely based around the events of Joyce Carol Vincent who died in her flat in 2003 and wasn't found until two years later, sort of like she disappeared and no one had noticed.

Quite possibly. Agree it looks good. There is a drama documentary with Zawe Ashton about Joyce called Dreams of a Life which C4 show from time to time.

I thought there were no suspicious circumstances with the real life one?

This sounds like a murder mystery.
the couple stumble across a decomposed body in the eaves
Just to me makes it setup to ask why the body was there and not just slumped in a chair in the front room.

Thanks for the tip This sounds like my kind of drama. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see when it is airing.

She was dead for two years but still paid her tv licence. What a gal!

When they discovered the body the tv was still on and had been for the three years.

Dreams of a Life is a very poignant film. Low key and melancholic. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Remarkable, isn't it. I wouldn't have thought a TV would last so long.

Joyce was dead for around 3 years, found sat in front of the television. No suspicious circumstances.

More and more people live alone these days, and with so much entertainment at our fingertips I can imagine that more people than ever before will go home after work and just stay there till work the next day. Maybe all weekend, too. If they were to die how many of their workmates would assume they'd just left?

Personally, I have never spent more time alone: my twenties were an amazing social whirl but that seems like a different life now. If it wasn't for my girlfriend and family members I could die and probably wouldn't be missed for weeks. I'm just surprised there aren't more stories like Joyce's.
