It was fannytastic.
But it should come with the "Please do not try this at home..." advisory.

I've never been fan of the Exhibition Showdance performances other than the very first year they introduced it (which I believe was Series Two) when it was done as an example of the more extreme lifts which were allowed in the show dance. However, I think Victor Da Silva and Hanna Karttunen used to have much more dance in alongside the gymnastics in their routines.

I quite agree. Most of it looked like acrobats with the man throwing the woman around, and I didn't like it.

I was expecting at least some dancing. I kept thinking the name of the programme is Strictly Come Dancing". That wasn't dancing in any way, shape or form.
That the norm in exhibition dancing not for me Im afraid
Appalling and how sad . Oh look, I can lift a woman above my head and I can even do with one hand, and for our next trick we are also able to walk :o

    Are they circus performers?

What an absolute waste of a spot on the show . Shame on the producers for hiring such rubbish .

No! They work in admin, cubicle 3C.
At weekends they just like to let their hair down, and kick over the traces.
Nan knits her the lacy floral outfit the girl was almost wearing.

    I agree.

That weird lift at the end with the man off his feet - I laughed my flamin' HEAD off:D:D:D

'We can do this really difficult thing, it looks ridiculous but if we keep our faces straight the'll fill in some mad reason why we're doing it'.

Not my cup of tea. I'd go wow in a circus though, if they did it in a big hoop miles up in the air or something.

I really wish they would not do this every year. None of the couples should even attempt a routine based on that sort of dancing. Far better to bring in Ballroom/Latin specialists for a show-dance exhibition.

I love acrobatic gymnastics and it did seem quite familiar although not quite as exciting!

Reading this thread is making me laugh out loud, thank you for stirring up the memories of Brendan and Lisa's show dance.

I quite liked getting the chance to see it because I'd never see what competition dance looks like in any other context. Didn't much like it but it was interesting. I would say it was more like circus (as has been said) or a contortionist. It didn't feel like they were telling a story to me, it just felt like they were doing those moves just because they could.

I hope none of the pros were watching. I wonder how many people watching were thinking, 'No, Brendan, no, don't even think about it!' :)

I must admit I've often found the showdances a bit disappointing, and often from my favourite pros as well. Neither Brendan or Artem have a great track record (jmo). It will be interesting to see what the new pros come up with.

They are current World exhibition dance champions, very impressive but not entirely to my taste. I would have prefered to see World Ballroom or Latin ranked couples.

Yes, I would of loved to have seen ballroom or Latin champs. The Latin couple in particular are absolutely stunning to watch. I've had a mental block on names! Think the lady is called Yulia.

Gymnastics or a circus act. Either way it was quite entertaining, but not dancing as we know it (Jim).

Every year they put these exhibition dance couples on. It's not dance, it's acrobatics. They should have real dance champioms on.
I hope no one tries to emulate it. Brendan, no, just no. :D

I really hope Sophie puts her foot down and stops Brendan trying something equally hideous, just because she's so good at lifts.

However, I am looking forward hugely to what Kevin can concoct for Susanna, based on tonight *rubs hands with glee, emitting evil cackle*

Don't listen to the naysayers Brendan! You follow your creative heart.

I agree Cadiva, there was more dancing with Hanna and Victor, I'm sure you'll remember what an absolutely stunning Latin dancer Hanna was, with Paul Killick.

Now Susanna, you just stand there in a Wonder Woman costume whilst I dance around you like Flash, Spider Man and Cato.

They should do it competitively on SCD, only 20 lifts allowed.
