The Summer season starts today ... any guesses whether we'll have any decent weather, or yet another washout?
(To be precise, Summer actually starts tonight at 23:09.)

The meteorological summer started June 1
in the Met Office consider 1st June to be the start of Summer. Hundreds of years of history proves them wrong.
I think there's some cricket on next week as well... guaranteed to rain then
Again you misunderstand what point you are trying to make. By your logic the 20th of December will still be autumn...
To be even more precise, it's actually 00.09 BST.
Come and get some of ours! They are plentiful and cheap
not just by my own logic ... that is a geographical fact for the entire Northern Hemisphere of this planet.
Vernal Equinox (Spring) March 20 2012 05:14 GMT
Summer Solstice (Summer) June 20 2012 23:09 GMT
Autumnal Equinox (Fall) September 22 2012 14:49 GMT
Winter Solstice (Winter) December 21 2012 11:11 GMT
Indeed you are correct. With that in mind, the Summer doesn't start proper until tomorrow.
British Summer Time is an artificially invented season, the origins of which apparently date back to 1916
when a builder campaigned for its introduction, the result of which was The Summer Time Act of 1916.
Essentially, the Summer starts when the planet says so, and not when boffins from the Met Office, or
an obsolete and antiquated Act of Parliament from almost a full century ago, might suggest otherwise!
There are very few of us about who were properly educated on the subject of seasons:D
I like people who think like me!
Hello bud.
Foxtrot Romeo Oscar:rolleyes:
They are the same size - I measured them over the internet
Spring: 1 March - 31 May
Summer: 1 June - 31 August
Autumn: 1 September - 30 November
Winter: 1 December - 28/9 February
Now people are saying that 21 June is Day 1 of Summer? So when is Autumn then?
After all, the solstices are often referred to as midsummer day and midwinter day.
