Tiscali+, HDMI, goes blank

With the new EPG installed I decided that I would try out the HDMI connection.
I followed the instructions, with Scart and HDMI connected, I chose onscreen HDMI (HD). Well Scart output went blank and so did HDMI output.
Only way out was to unplug HDMI and switch box off and on again (leaving the HDMI cable plugged in and switching box on and off didn't do the trick).
What am I missing?

maybe a call to tiscali would help.
I have not rung them to ask about it but let me know how you get on.
