The Coil and Periods

Hi all

I have had the coil for just over 2 years.

I find it has been playing havoc with my periods. Sometimes I have it for two weeks other times a few days. I got my period sat night and it appears to be gone, is it normal for a period to be so odd when you are on the coil?

Which type of coil is it? I had the mirena coil and bled for the whole year I had it in, before I had it removed. I think youre either really lucky like my sister and have no periods at all, or unlucky and have unpredictable bleeding. If youre worried though, you should go back to your GP.

They say it takes about 6 months to settle down. I would go back to the doctors and check its still in place. They can fall out apparently. Unless you can feel the string. The doctor can tell you if its still in properly.

Why have the hormone releasing one ? Ask for the ordinary coil - much better.
