Did Noah really live for 950 years?

'After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.'

Genesis 9.28

It's better to assume the religious don't know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to proof of anything. The religious texts of the world really ought to be stocked under the fiction section of every bookstore and library in the world.

maybe it seemed that long because life on the ark was so very very boring -think "waterworld" - so time just appeared to pass much more slowly ?

Yes = you are an idiot for believing it
No = Oh, so, you pick and choose what you believe?

    Have I got that right?

    Maybe he was a dog?

That would make him only 234 in human years.

When you say "the religious", I do have to ask if you'd expect, say, practitioners of Shinto or Odinism to really give much of a shit either way about Noah.

Maybe the OP should ask his elected representatives in Northern Ireland, particularly the unionist ones on this issue. It would be an fascinating response certainly.

Northern Ireland, is of course, by far the most religious part of the UK.

I don't know why religion threads get such flack. This is a general discussion board and people are surely free to post whatever they like. (within reason).

To answer the OP, I'm not sure what Calendar the people used when Genesis was written but I doubt it was the same as the one we used now. That said, 950 is stretching it a lot even for that, I agree.

Some people tend to take the piss in which creating threads about religion would be easier for them to do that.

Stop with the anti-religion stuff, already.

Some people are religious - get over it!

I always find with the anti-religion threads the people who get so worked up about the Bible stories being made up seem to know an awful lot about them.
