Setup a wired network with powerline ethernet, aka Homeplugs. Wi-Fi can be reserved for mobile devices.

Buy a WiFi range extender, such as
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WA750RE-Universal-Extender-Configuration/dp/B00CEB53JQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397655972&sr=8-3&keywords=wifi+range+extender

If you are massively into Wi-Fi then you may as well just buy a suitable router that has all the Wi-Fi bells and whistles.
I'm all hard wired and just two TVs are Wi-Fi to get their firmware updates, so the standard router does me just fine.
