In an interview on Radio N'ton publicising the MK gig, she mentions that she has just signed up for a 3-yr couse at RADA starting next term.

thenetworkbabe, I was at MK, what a singer and what musicians are all 3!!! I was in awe of the degree of difficulty of the arrangements, a step up from when I saw them, minus the double bass, a few months ago at Lowestoft. Inevitably we had 'The Man Who Got Away' as the encore, if her version was a stand-out on IDA, I can't find an adjective to describe her present version. Why doesn't Jools Holland give her some well deserved spots on his Later tv show?

The Jessie bog spot now has a listing of Jessie upcoming Cabarets/concerts.
    http://jessiebuckleyfanblog.blogspot.com/

There's another cabaret that was on a flier at the delfont cabaret which I then lost- somewhere something like Copley???

The next big concert after the Battle of Britain one in September seems to be http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/christmas/bt-christmas-concert/default.aspx where somewhere over the rainbow is on the menu.... you too Jessie could be Dorothy...

The Battle of Britain concert is going to be interesting. Jessie is the only named soloist and the menu includes the White Cliffs of Dover, A nightingale sang in Berkley square and Rule Brittania......Vera Lynn meets the proms final night.......

The folk at the jessiebuckleyblogspot http://jessiebuckleyfanblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/jessies-christmas.html have found Jessie is doing a series of (big) concerts around the end of the year . This time its musicals. There's two male singers and one other female plus Jessie listed and a long list of musicals including Les Mis, Sound Of Music and Oliver........

    There's one at the Barbican
    http://www.raymondgubbay.co.uk/whatson/christmas-festival-barbican/sound-of-musicals

One at the Bridgewater Hall Manchester
    http://www.raymondgubbay.co.uk/whatson/christmas-festival-manchester/sound-of-musicals

One at the symphony hall Birmingham
    http://www.raymondgubbay.co.uk/whatson/christmas-festival-symphony-hall/sound-of-musicals

and one at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow
    http://www.raymondgubbay.co.uk/whatson/christmas-festival-glasgow/sound-of-musicals

There's also the BT christmas concert of songs and carols at the Royal Albert Hall Dec 14.

    ............................

Saw Jessie at The Battle Of Britain remembered, Royal Festival Hall. An amazing evening. Jessie sang Its a Lovely Day Tomorrow, A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square, The White Cliffs of Dover, Lili Marlene, Ill Be seeing You, Rule Brittania, We'll Meet Again and Land of Hope and Glory.
The Vera Lynne numbers were done in Jessie style but with the appropriate accent throughout , I'll be Seeing You was beautiful and Lili Marlene was particularly stunning and one she ought to show off again and again. Jessie developed a convincing rabbit movement for Run Rabbit Run in the first singalong section and she was very convincing hanging out her washing on the Siegfried Line for someone born 50 years afterwards. She also displayed unkown talents leading and working the audience singing. She really got the show going when she spotted a little old lady in the front row singing along and marching up and down the aisle waving her flag . Jessie finds a way down off the stage, takes the mike to her and sings it alongside her - there's a real showman in our Miss Buckley. The evening was compared by Leslie Philips who kept on repeating his intro lines and adding adjectives to Jessie's name. He settled on delicious and walked off with Jessie's arm around him - thats one to remember. Jessie singing Rule Brittania was an amazing sight, she can't do the full overblown up soprano noise but the advantage was you could actually hear the words. It ended with Jessie in (almost not all in) a striking red dress and Jessie's little flag flying off her flagpole as she conducted the audience.
    Highly recommended ....
    ....................

Jessie is also playing Emily Strong in This September which is based on September by Rosamund Pilcher. This is a two part TV series as far as I can see with Eileen Atkins and Charles Dance. Can't find when or where its on or how advanced it is. if anyone sees more can they post?
    ..................
Thats quite an amazing list - Jessie's now done an off West End musical thats gone into the Westend, a lot of cabarets, a short film, played a role in a TV series and has done, or is doing, a series of concerts thats taking her through the biggest concert halls in the country. Not bad for a 20 year old. The programme for the BoB Concert also confirmed she starts at RADA in September.

I note that at the Albert Hall Xmas concert, she is almost certainly going to sing 'Over the Rainbow'. It would have been interesting if an 18 year old Jessie had burst on our screens a couple of years later as a potential Dorothy.

Bloody typical. Jessie has a show at my local theatre and I'm the other side of the world in New Zealand. A couple of months ago I missed search for Joseph star Daniel Boys as well. My local theatre hates me.

The jessiebuckleyfanblogspot have found another Jessie Cabaret . At the 606 jazz club Chelsea 23 Jan.
    http://www.606club.co.uk/index.htm?331,353

Join my Band Jessie's short film has had a preview and may be visible soon.

Jessie's completed the Sound Of Musicals Tour.
Saw the Barbican show. Amongst others and some group songs, Jessie sang I Dreamed a Dream , a massive Don't Rain On My Parade, a I Know Him So Well duet from Chess, As Long As He Need Me, The Sound of Music to start a SOM medley, a massive Maybe this Time, As If We Never said Goodbye and Annie Get Your Gun and they ended with songs from Mamma Mia. Some she does on her American Song Book cabarets - most were new though.

One discovery of the afternoon was that they kept on sending Jessie on to do 2 or 3 massive songs in a row - if she can do Don't Rain on My Parade straight after I Dreamed a Dream and, later, could sing I Know Him So Well, followed by As Long As He Needs Me Followed by The Sound Of Music, I don't think there's a musical with a harder combination. Another was that Jessie does accents really well now - Annie Get Your Gun was great (and she's really good at comedy too) As Long As He Needs Me is now wonderfully cockney and The Sound of Music was more English than Julie. The third was she's really good singing Abba - which opens up a lot of modern possibilities. The big one for me was her The Sound Of Music - it was beautiful. Put her singing that into the Maria show and she looks like a big contender to me. If she can yodel, there's a role there for her one day - she sounds great, its in her range, she's got the accent off pat and she knows all about nuns too.

The Barbican show was on Jessie's 21st Birthday - the audience sang Happy Birthday to her and she got some gifts... Jessie cried singing several songs ...some things are right with the world.

The blog spot found a nice review from Glasgow
    http://www.heraldscotland.com/mobile/arts-ents/stage-visual-arts/the-sound-of-musicals-glasgow-royal-concert-hall-1.1077539

    And there's another from Birmingham.

Thanks for the info Networkbabe. I'd missed it all because I didn't notice the new page!! Duh! Very useful to hear about the BoB concert and another view on the Sound of Musicals too.

Has anyone any knowledge of how the BT carol concert at the Albert Hall went? I can't find anything.

Nice to see some activity on this page! :)

PS Did anyone see the Dean Street Jazz Club performance with the Richard Niles Sextet? I just wondered how it went.

    Interesting interview anyway.
    http://londonjazz.blogspot.com/2010/10/preview-jessie-buckley-at-pigalle.html

If you look under the interview there's a comment by Richard Niles who seems to think it went well...........

Didn't see either of those...Jessie's shows are on redial but more than once every couple of months would be excessive.......:)

Aww so pleased to see Jessie doing well. She is so talented and a beautiful girl, inside and out.

Does anyone know if she still sees anyone from I'd Do Anything? She was really close to a lot of them, so I hope so :)

Think Sam had a twitter answer sometime recently saying she was close still to Rachel, Niamh and Jessie and when Jessie did her late night cabaret in the Delfont rooms last year, Rachel was there.

Ahh that's nice. It's funny because loads of people here speculated that Rachel and Sam disliked each other for some reason!

I seem to remember Ashley saying she still kept in contact with Jessie, Rachel and Jodie :D

Another Jessie recording - this time its " Its Not Gonna Rain" on Unwritten Songs a new album by Michael Bruce. Thats impressive. Sarah Lark also has a song and there's one with Daniel Boys plus a long list of other Westend Stars.

You may like the Portrait of a Princess Video of a song from the album below the album detail on the dress circle page- sung by Julie Atherton (seen in Avenue Q with Daniel Boys) and with Sheridan Smith in a cameo role....

This season's American Idol seems to be followint the script of IDA. A bully Jackson/Barrowman being critical at the slightest opportunity of the best of the show Reinhart/Buckley, his aide de camp JLo/DVO helping him at every opportunity, the joker Tyler/Humphries contradicting the both of them and the voting public ignnoring the both of them, maybe until the final as the constantly so-so Scottie/Jodie wins.

My, my, someone doesn't appreciate that people have (shock horror) different tastes in music and performers!

Jessie wasn't my favourite at the time, but I've heard very good things about her post IDA performances, and I will probably go to see her sometime in the future

I did see Jodie in Oliver and thought she was very good in the role (definitely not 'so, so'). I also saw Rachel in Wicked and she was superb .

And as for Scottie. If anyone had told me I would be rooting for a country singer to win American idol, I would have said they were mad. but I love his voice, and the way he performs, and hope he makes it all the way, and even if he doesn't I'll buy his album. I definitely think he is far better than Reinhart

That being said. I fully understand that not everyone will share that opinion.

After all if everyone had the same view of performers, and only listened to or went to see the same acts all the time, the music industry would be very boring indeed and would probably go out of business through lack of diversity.

rionia, you mean the Reinhart who ended up with 4 standing Os to Scottie's big zero, the top 4, probably 5 by now, downloaded songs on Itunes, and by top 4 I mean miles clear top 4, and an order of magnitude more hits on youtube. In addition, I suspect she would have had another standing O for her Adele cover if the judges had been sat in their usual position.

Whether or not the others from IDA have done quite well post the TV show is irrelevent, on the show as ALW insisted there was one who consistently showed star quality. I suggest you go to see her at one of the side rooms in the Albert Hall in early June.

Haley was average. There was nothing about her that hasn't been seen many times before on AI. The fact that she was given so many Standing 'O's for performances that would barely have scraped her into the final 24 in previous years, says it all about AI Standing O's for me. They are valueless as a true measure of how good perforances are!

I supported Jessie on IDA, but it's silly to keep banging on about this. Three years have passed. Jessie has been able to hone her craft (she was raw and needed time to mature and learn). Not winning hasn't been a bad thing for her.

The one thing I agree with you on is John Barrowman. He was an a*se in IDA, which is one of the reasons why it's my second least favourite of all the BBC shows (OTR being my least favourite).

I think performances, studio reaction, votes and who producers want to win are often unrelated in many of these shows. Votes particularly follow many other things, sales follow target demographics and familiarity often wins .

I wouldn't under-estimate the strength or success of the girls on I'Do Anything. I have seen 6 of them on stage or in cabaret this year, and they are all doing really well. What I have noticed, is that none of them display any of the issues seen or claimed by the judges on the show - and thats been true since weeks after the show ended. My lesson is that you might as well mute the judges comments and just vote for who you like and think has the right potential for the role. The more difficult problems in the casting shows are that many Musical Theatre trained performers do seem to have issues adapting to the small screen, song choices can be fatal (by design sometimes) and its impossible to know whats a significant issue and one that will vanish when a good director gets to work.

I agree with Johartuk on Barrowman - I wouldn't bet on his chances mastering Sondheim, and I think he would now benefit from the Rachel Tucker MT acting class.

Ironically, Barrowman has appeared in at least one Sondheim musical - Company. He played Bobby.

TBH, I do think Barrowman has the credentials to be judging others. What I felt was wrong was the way he seemed to play favourites (e.g. Ben in ADWD and Jodie in IDA) and could get quite nasty with those he didn't like (e.g. Lewis in ADWD and Ashley and Jessie in IDA).

Much as I thought that Lewis wasn't ready to take on a West End leading role at that point, I did think it was unfair that he was told by Barrowman (in the ADWD semi-final) that, with five weeks between the final and opening night there wasn't time to sort out his performance issues, whereas a few minutes later, Ben was told there was time to sort out his!
