Does anyone eat it?

I had some beetroot once. Quite alot of it in fact. When I went for a piss, I got quite worried and had to call 111, because I thought I was pissing blood. Thankfully the kind lady explained thats what happens when you eat alot of beetroot.:)

It is supposed to contain nitrates (or is it nitrites), which metabolise into nitric acid, which in turn dilates arteries and improves blood flow, thus lowering blood pressure.

Love, love, love it. Straight from the earth (after a wash of course), or decanted from a jar. Also gorgeous with Tater 'Ash.

I love it too, specially slow roasted in honey with some parsnips, potatoes, swede and carrots.

    Meh, I don't like it.

It stains everything! Even my teeth! It looks like I turned into a zombie, ripped someone's heart out and ate it.

Beetroot is supposed to be an aphrodisiac, the guy on Come Dine With Me said so, not sure about the pickled variety.

I love it and it's very good for you. Lots of marathon runners and top spots people drink beetroot juice.

I make a dip/dressing from chopped beetroot with natural yoghourt and grapefruit. Sounds yuk but it's yum!

I can't stand it but its a HUGE part of my detox diet. I juiced it raw last time, this time I cheated and went for cooked. Aside from juicing it for my detox I avoid it completely.

The thing about beetroot is that they are both ordinary and exotic.

They taste of the earth, just a big hint, but it's there, and then they are gloriously mango like in texture, and have that odd taste (wish I could describe it).

And they are so, so, damned red, and they turn everything pink.

Awesome and strange, lovely, ordinary thing.

    Terribly underrated.

I buy it. I can't think of anything to do with it. It goes off. I throw it away.

I don't like it, but I don't hate it either. I find it easier to drink it, if I need a bit of stamina I buy beetroot juice.

    I've never cooked it.

I had it pickled as a child, and now buy those shrink wrapped ones -- bloody lovely.

    I'll give cooked a go;)
