Okay, so here it goes:
Zsa Zsa Carter
Carly Wicks
Vicki Fowler
Spencer Moon (with Vicki)
Peter Beale
Lauren Branning (as Lauren Beale)
Steven Beale
Grant Mitchell
Sam Mitchell (temporarily)
Peggy Mitchell (as a recurring character - once a year or so)
Courtney Mitchell
Louise Mitchell
Glenda Mitchell (temporarily)
Sean Slater (temporarily)
Dr Legg (as a recurring character)
Cindy Beale (eventually)
Janine Butcher

I'd also bring in:
Michelle Fowler (for a cameo appearance)
Pat Butcher and Angie Watts (a guest appearance in Kathy's dream similar to Charlie Cotton in 2000 and Vera Duckworth in 2010)
Simon Wicks and David Wicks (for guest appearances if Cindy were to return)
A character from E20 who didn't appear in EastEnders to act a representation of the authentic EastEnd - maybe, Ava Bourne

Some great choices, but far too many IMO.

I would put the Mitchell's back in The Vic, and have:

Grant return, and buy The Vic with Sharon.
    Peggy as a recurring character.

    I'd also bring back:

    Janine Butcher
    Tanya Branning
    & Zainab Masood

They're the 4/5 I REALLY want to return, and the good thing is I think they all will one day... Even Ross Kemp!:).

    Diedrick Santer

If you don't mind me asking, why?

I'd like Diedrick to work alongside Dominic, but I don't think DTC is doing a bad job by himself:p

The Mitchells should not return to The Vic. That's in the past and the Carters run that pub now. I wouldn't mind Sharon going to The Vic with her son Denny and sister Vicki - a Watts family thing - but not Sharon and Grant together. Viewers have put that behind them.
You say it's far too many but DTC brought in almost 20 former characters in the space of a year which went down well with the audience. Thinking of it, what about Chrissie Watts returning instead of Janine or Clare Bates?

I like the Vic how it is with the Carters and if they ever brought Grant back you can just bet they wouldn't be able to resist doing a reverse Sharongate!

I like the idea of Vicki and Spencer coming back as well, especially as Alfie and Kat aren't together any more and I think it'd be nice for Sharon to have Vicki back.

It would be good to see Louise Mitchell back, she'd be about 13/14 now wouldn't she? Lots of opportunities for drama there!

I would love to see Sean return! Ever since Ryan Malloy left, the soap has been missing its resident 'hunky bad boy with a heart'

It would be nice for Peter and Lauren to return together with their baby and to see them coping with parenthood.

I don't think Steven Beale should return, crazy characters always have a shelf life and EE made the mistake of trying to redeem him. He was just a strange character involved in strange storylines. Saying that, I would like to see him with Ben though...we could take bets on who'd kill who first lol

Cindy should not return, she was a great character but she's over now. One more resurrection from the dead and it will turn into Hollyoaks!

I can't see how any of the other characters would fit into the show (apart from maybe Janine) even Peggy had virtually nothing to do in the live episodes except give subtle nods to the past.

Apart from a few exceptions, A lot of the past characters have had their day and are remembered so fondly because they knew when it was time to leave. They should be concentrating more on the new characters rather than bringing old ones back.

Vicki and Spencer are really interesting choices. Brings back another Fowler as well as one of the better Moon characters. IMO Scarlett Alice Johnson can be brought back for the role, but they'll probably recast Spencer since Chris Parker (as far as I know) no longer acts.

I wouldn't mind Jake Moon coming back, a very underrated character and I'm convinced that he's still alive.

Agree about Carly and Glenda. Ronnie needs her mum IMO.

I think Janine will be back in a few more years time, not quite yet.

I'd LOVE for Zainab to return, the Masoods need her presence again, she made that family prominent. Her return is a must IMO.

Cindy Beale shouldn't be brought back, especially with DTC resurrecting Kathy. It would be way too over the top to do it again and so soon after Kathy.

It would be weird for Michelle fowler to turn up as she missed the funerals of her mum, dad and brother
She is also a good foul for when Ian and Sharon go off screen
I agree with vikki and possibly spencer, though played by a different actor
We're vikki and Stacey on screen at all? I think she would fit in to the Stacey and Shabs set up
She could also run the Albert with spencer so we could have it on screen again!
The actress was great in pramface

I'd love Tanya back and think that her and max are great together but the writers have split them up that many times it's become implausible, I hope she comes back for cora's wedding
Can see some great lines between her and Linda

Peggy is great to wheel out once a year :)

I am hoping Lauren comes back after Jaq has finished her maternity
    With joey ;-)

Perhaps mark fowler jr can make his first appearance! But played by an actual American actor!

I've always been for Jake Moon returning and throw in a wife and kids and you've a new family.

I'd also like to see Courtney Mitchell back, she'd be of college going age and EE could do something revolutionary for them and have her attend college in London and live in the square to save on rent.

Never been keen on seeing Vicki and Spencer return because I couldn't stand Vicki in her previous accent-swapping incarnation.

I'd quite like Vicky back now that Martin has returned. She could arrive with her brother and a recast Spencer.

Others who would be good for the show are Zainab and Jean and Olllie. Of course Sean would be a dream return, but I can't see that happening.

Yes, but he never brought 20 characters back.

The Mitchell's need to stay away from owning the vic now. Most of ees past has had them running it and it is boring now. The carters can keep it but just have mick and linda toned down.

    I'd like to see
Johnny Carter since he was my favourite character and relatable to me
Zsa zsa Carter for Tina's next storyline
Carly wicks just for whatever deans fate then she can go again
Tanya cross to swap places with stale max
    Janine butcher
Diane butcher (her son and Suzanne)
    Zainab masood
Afia masood (tamwar doesn't work that well with anyone else imo)
Michelle fowler for mark jnr arrival
Grant Mitchell (and Courtney) for same storyline
    Christian and syed masood

That would be the death of Eastenders if they do that. They made it impossible and unrealistic to be done without getting a tardis and rewriting history. People need to get over the fact cindy snr is gone with no way back. The producer made the big mistake to kill her of like that but it's done now and can't be undone.

Cindy snr has plenty of Youtube clips on YouTube were see can still be enjoyed.

Instead of bringing old cast members back, perhaps they should start with viewers. I have given up on EE as the storylines are so boring. I'm sick of everyone back stabbing, shouting and sleeping with each other. I used to love Kat and Alfie, but they have been ruined. I also liked Tan and Max together before all the sleeping around. They should invest in good solid new characters. Families with values. This is just my opinion and I look forward to be told i'm wrong !

The Mitchell's were far more entertaining in The Vic than the Carters IMO.

But it's become boring and stale as they have been in there for the majority of the shows run. Linda suits the landlady role and I can't see her anywhere else. The carters need to socialise more with their punters rather then be absorbed in their own stuff.

I would love to see Grant and Sharon again. Amazing chemistry,

The Carters need to be toned down. Need to be less of them. And we need to stop these cheer up Linda parties they are very boring. Bit like Stan telling Shirley and Mick to make up all the time. They make up, fall out again and then told to make up. Rinse and repeat. I believe all these themes are coming up.....again

The Carters like Alfie would be pointless outside the Vic, I mean Alfie is just a mess without a pub to run and what on earth would the Carters do for a living, if they were to leave the Vic they'd have to leave the show.

I agree. I also believe grant or peggy were the only 2 that worked well out of the Mitchells in the vic. Phil just didn't suit it imo. Ronnie and roxy were ok but I think the carters are great as pub owners and work well there.

That's what people said about Kathy.
I made it very clear that I think if Cindy were to return it should be done eventually NOT now. It couldn't a 'big bang' thing where we just see her appear and then make some big excuse. There would have to be a build up beforehand and a revelation of a secret beforehand to establish she's alive and the reasons why before she could come back. There's one reason why she could be alive: the hit man who shot Ian and his associates.

Fine, watch something else. You talk as if it is either bring back old characters or bring in new characters. You can do BOTH and do them very well. As for solid new characters, I would introduce:
    Mark Fowler Jr.
    Tim (Michelle Fowler's husband)
I'd create a new family around the Ava girl I mentioned.

Kathy wasn't given the impossible to be brought back death.

Cindy died in childbirth in prison and no way would that be covered up.

    I'd like Zainab to return.

Louise Mitchell might be a good addition to the cast - how old would she be now?
