Given what happened when you tried to work (ie getting mobile like that), I'd see the GP and ask if s/he thinks the cast is too tight. I know my son's first cast was, plus it was digging into his toes, like 'squashed' at the toe end of the cast - his big toe was so painful he was practically in tears, and his little toe had a dent in it at the outer edge for a week or so after that cast was replaced. It just concerns me that your foot reacted how it did, is all.
