I find this utterly ridiculous and I don't know what else to add.
Except to people saying the Queen is German so obviously her family are /were Nazis: are all Irish members of the IRA? Are all Muslims members of ISIS? This is as insane as people who said Pope Benedict was a Nazis because he was a member of the Hitler Youth, conveniently ignoring the fact that membership was compulsory not voluntary.
Actually this is worse because there's even less reasoning behind it. The Queen has dedicated her life to Britain, so whether you like the royals or not it's crazy to suggest she supported Hitler. It doesn't matter that her uncle did - some of my uncles have political beliefs I disagree with, which I'd be offended to be associated with!
Turns out I did have things to add lol. I find this story highly distasteful. I'm sure each and every one of us could fund unsavory connections in our recent family history so to publish this is purely malicious in my opinion.
The Queen isn't German. I agree with the rest of you post. The Nazi salute wasn't offensive then either.
Never understood the hatred of The Sun. It's a rag, gutter press, etc - yet these same people will discuss the stories it prints.
It's good to have the choice of what to read in the UK. Want a broadsheet type of paper, fine, buy something else. I personally like tabloid journalism. They have broken some big stories in the past and it's wrong to say it's full of BS.
I think it has to do with hatred of Murdoch and it's politics (although they were a Labour supporting paper in the 90's) I admit 'The Truth' headline about Hillsborough did not help, but it was the police and an MP who fed them the info, seem like legit sources to be me, hindsight is a wonderful thing though.
The people who rubbish it I guess don't read it. I do like newspapers, great value for money and I get access to their website too for just 40p. Jeremy Clarkson, Ally Ross (funniest TV critic around) Jane Moore, Rod Liddle, Katie Hopkins, etc, all good columnists. I and I do love their sports coverage.
I would rather have papers like them in place exposing hypocrisy and scandal than not being around. Would we have got to hear about the MP expenses scandal without the press? Been plenty of other examples too.
Finally I wonder if Julian Assange, Edward Snowden or Russell Brand via his Trews channel had leaked this, if the complainers would still be shouting or would they be championing them as hereos?
Hopefully this'll put a few people off buying the Sun as I continually hope for it to slide in to obscurity but it seems to be growing in popularity.
I'm far from being a Monarchist, I'd have the lot of them made redundant tomorrow if I could but this is just a bit of a strange thing to have in a paper. Clearly the Queen didn't know what she was doing and couldn't possibly have known what would happen in the years after this play time photo was taken. The adults in the paper, being of high society and close to the government of the day could possibly have had insider knowledge as to what Hitler was really up to so it seems a bit odd they would be encouraging this to be done, but then again, it was still very early days in Hitler's regime so at that point it was probably more of a mocking rather than a show of solidarity with the Nazis.
Buckingham Palace are being a bit over the top by trying to cover it all up. It happened they needn't bang on about how it was private and not meant for public eyes as it sounds as if they are trying to hide more. The rest of the media, if they really cared would not be reporting on the story at all, a total blackout, but really they are all just furious the Sun got the video first.
Very nice of the BBC (Which does no advertising:D) to give the Sun newspaper, SOOO much publicity - just been to the paper shop for my copy of the "i" - (50p is all I can afford...:) ) & noticed the Sun was sold out.........
When I went to our local shop, there was a big pile left!

It's difficult to take your opinion seriously when you call Kate Hopkins a good columnist.
Several people who have defended the Queen have said they are anti-Monarchy, so that doesn't sound like they will be buying a tea towel any time soon.
Damn it, I just re-stocked my royal shiny tat shop, thinking there might be some converts!
On the bright side, all the shortbread is in cryo-stasis so if it doesn't all sell by the time the ultimate end of royalty comes around it will defrost slowly enough to still be useful when the power goes out after the next zombie apocalypse or even if one of the numerous other imminent armagedda happens first. Unless it's one of the really bad ones, obviously.
It's all carefully planned but in spite of all of that I'm still not entirely sure if a tea-towel actually has a specific intended function.

Yes, I was one of them. I grew up in a Socialist household and still when I see the Royals on TV I hear my Dad starting his standard rant about how they are leeches on society etc etc. It's like a trigger. :D
But even I find this article abhorrent. The Queen is a child in the photo. She has dedicated her life to our country and while I don't really see the point of the monarchy she does have my admiration. The Sun has stooped exceeding low indeed.
Apparently so. I see no problem in printing it. The sooner the UK becomes a modern democracy and dispenses with princes, queens and dragons the better. ;-)

* you're :cool:
Ha ha Madness isn't it? these are the people who buy tat like royal mugs and tea towels. :D

Now that I would agree with!
Nobody in Liverpool has been offended as it was shunned 26 years ago.
The rest of the country may wise up now.
If it had been Salmond or Sturgeon would you be saying the same? I doubt it very much - you'd be slagging the paper off 100%.
Mind you if I ever see the Queen speaking to Ian Duncan Heydrich I will be far more worried.

Seriously I don't
I also don't know if they were gone, if it would be a good thing??? Perhaps on the public purse strings....I really don't know.
I just find them highly irritating with their inflated superiority and sense of entitlement and with no explanation why.
Hope you all realise the Tories are trying to dismantle the BBC in favour of people like him who will carve up the spoils.
At least I would then have a free choice on whether to pay for a service that I barely watch or listen to.

The BBC in its turn, has dismantled many local independent newspapers.

Churchill doing a Nazi salute
I'm sure she would have preferred to have been forced to work all her life just to get by, like all us lucky sods.
Poor old Queen.
This republican votes for keeping the dragons.
