TWC Fight was bought by The Fight Network (TFN) from Canada. (TFN would turn out to be inferior to TWC.)
TFN had plans for channels all over the world. IIRC they had offices in Asia and South America so they could move into these markets. This was their first international expansion by purchasing the established TWC Fight.
But TFN soon had additional problems in Canada.
They did a lot of cost-cutting and the UK channel was cut, along with a lot of staff in Canada to keep the business afloat. I believe the TFN creator had already left and had a lawsuit against the new owners.
TFN later filled for bankruptcy for $13.7 million. You can read this here. http://www.cagesideseats.com/2010/12/9/1866828/the-fight-networks-parent-company-files-for-bankruptcy-owes-over-13-7
TWC Fight was originally The Wrestling Channel of course.
They showed TNA "iMPACT!" (now Impact Wrestling) in its early days.
I remember the picture quality was absolutely dire!
They also had a wrestling magazine show called "The Bagpipe Report" for a short while, which was really good.
I may be looking back with rose tinted glasses, but I think it was often better than the "Wrestle Talk TV" show that's now on Challenge.
I miss UK Play. I never really watched it at first but then I noticed a few good shows on there, started watching it and it shut down soon after
I also liked the earlier incarnation of UK Gold, especially Blakes 7 on a Sunday Morning....lovely
Granada Men And Motors and Bravo were good when I was in the mood for some boobs and bums
Another channel that didn't seem to last long that I occasionally viewed was Eurotique....like Babestation but with European women of a slightly higher class
Comments
Wedding TV has an Italian channel that is currently active.
CCTV9 still transmits around Europe. Just not on Sky, where it was replaced by CCTV News.

The amount of times I called Lifestyle Jukebox for the topless music video, I haven't a clue who or what it actually was now.
The channels I miss are Screensport, Lifestyle (for one of my favourite shows WKRP In Cincinnati), Bravo, CMT and more recently ESPN America.
