Looks yummyy...Can i ask the recipe for your chicken, garlic sauce and chilli sauce? Or if you've bought the sauces from shop, can you tell me the brand names? Thanks. And is that red cabbage or beetroot?:o
The chicken marinade was a quick knock up recipe.
A pinch of spices such as chicken powder, smoked paprika, paprika, chilli powder, garlic powder and onion powder.
A couple of teaspoons of soured cream.
Usually I would use garlic puree and yoghurt but didn't have any available so used what I had.
I let it marinade for a couple of hours and cooked it under the grill until charred both sides.
It's the same way of making chicken tikka, which is pretty much what it is.

Here is the garlic sauce recipe

Here's the recipe for a garlic sauce that we get in the takeaways in my town. It's not garlic mayo!

    Basic recipe:
    1 tsp garlic *
    2 tsp yoghurt **
    2 tsp mayo

    * Pureed garlic is best. It could be a clove pureed in a pestle & mortar with a pinch of salt and sugar, which is what I find best. You can also mince it with a knife.
Or you can use puree from a tube or jar.

** You can use natural or greek yoghurt, soured cream or creme fraiche.

Option extras are salt and sugar, but becareful if you have used them when pureeing the garlic.
You can add a dash of lemon juice.
You can add some fresh mint & parsley or even a little jarred mint sauce. Use a dash of water to thin the sauce to desired consistency.

The final strenght of the sauce will depend on the size and pungency of the cloves. Add more yoghurt or mayo to suit.

The chilli sauce was a cheat using ketchup, hot sauce and mint sauce.
If I had the time and ingredients I would have made this fresh Turkish style chilli sauce
    http://www.dailynewarticles.com/article/455/4819/Helens_nonlethal_Chili_Sauce.html

It's served with lettuce, onion and red cabbage, which is a standard takeaway style salad around here.
The cabbage is maserated in a pinch of salt and sugar, red wine vinegar and covered in water. Either use boiling water or stick it in the microwave for 30-60 secs to soften it a little.
Let cool then drain & dry.

Well, haven't been on here for a few days, and what great pics to come back to :D

Anirose your curry looks great. Glad your posting more pics!

Degs your kebab looks great, jealous once again of the charred look you seem to do perfectly lol You also on to a winner because I love kebabs :)

That lamb shank look so amazing Earthling! Lamb shank is one of my favorite meals, but it has to be a special occasion because they are so expensive.

Tesco have duck legs on offer so I made aromatic crispy duck with pancakes (store bought), hoisin etc

That duck looks great. We had the Gressingham duck that was on special offer in Sainsbury this week. Lovely!

I had to order the shanks so didn't really know how much I was going to have to pay but they were only £5.90 for two and, as I said, they were huge, really filling.

That's the one lol they were Gressingham duck legs. Wow that's really good value for 2 shanks, and they look huge. Did you get those from Sainsbury?

No. Got a very good butcher at farm shop 15 minutes away. I buy virtually all of my meat products there. Prices are comparable or, sometimes, cheaper than Tesco and the quality is so much better.

I wish I had a butcher closer to me. The nearest one is at my mums, and I only go there on a Sunday when it's closed unfortunately :( you're right the quality and size is so different from supermarket meat.

You would think it tastes like chicken, but it's more gamey and therefore a lot richer. I like both equally as much though hehe you should give it a go sometime.

We have 3 in our small town but I prefer the one in the farm shop. It's a 'proper' butchers, you can see them working in the back and sometimes they give demonstrations. Also,I think being out of town helps to keep the prices a bit lower.

You're probably right about the prices. I'm so jealous of you and your three bucthers and farm shop lol I live in London, so you can imagine! Saying that...it's great when you need specialist ingredients, lots of asian, african supermarkets etc.

Yes, it's swings and roundabouts. I only left S. London 8 years ago after living there all of my (very long) life. I sometimes miss the theatre/concert scene but quality of life so good now. And I don't have to put up with the Olympics and all that disruption. Crime? What's that? Haha.

    Well, they're both cute. :p

I can see where she's coming from though. They have a similar texture colour and are both very flavoursome.
