Best cocktail you have tried

I have been asked to organise cocktails for a charity event that is coing up but problem is I dont drink so I have no idea which cocktails to make.

Was wondering if anyone could suggest some really nice cocktails. I have tried googling it but some of the top cocktails include the likes of vodka with soda water added and vodka with coke, even I know these are not proper cocktails.

At the risk of the usual 'stereotypical gender and ageist construct'* accusations being thrown around, are we talking mostly men or women in attendance here? What sort of ages? Are you looking for long drinks or shorter, stiffer drinks as aperitifs?

    Also, outdoor or indoor-based event?

Half a pint of ESB plus half a bottle of Vintage Ale or Golden Pride. Use the other half a bottle for the second pint.

I would suggest sticking to the easy ones and the most popular

    Margarita Cocktail
    Mojito Cocktail
Strawberry Daiquiri Cocktail (other favours too)
    Long Island Iced Tea Cocktail

The other way of doing it is round what makes up the drink you will find a lot based around white rum, triple-sec, vodka. Just avoid ones that require a lot of different types of flavours otherwise you will end up with a drinks cabinet full of things your are never going to use.

Mine fav is of course a Dry Martini Cocktail shaken not stirred ;)

No mention of pina coladas, bellinis or mudslides? Poor show.

I agree with all listed above as well.

Toad Suck Pond. It's a rubbish name but a really good cocktail. I've had these a couple of times at Toby Keith's in Vegas so google it and I am sure you will get the recipe. It's Wodka, Midori, Malibu and I think pineapple juice.

Haha I've never been on a hen night so I'd have no idea if it's my idea of fun :p I'm not even a massive drinker, I just like the really "girly" cocktails. :D

Are moijitos a better suggestion? I had them on holiday and they're pretty summery and cool drinks.

How about a caipirinha? All you need are limes, caster sugar and cachaca (quite hard to get hold of so I tend to use white rum!)

Get a smaller tumbler glass, put 2 teaspoons of sugar and a 1/4 of a lime at the bottom. Crush the lime to get as much juice out of it as you can. Then fill the glass with ice and top up with the alcohol! So easy to make! :D

A woman walks into a cocktail bar and asks the barman for an Innuendo.
So the barman gave her one.

    Boom. Boom.

Personally, I'd go for a Long Island ice tea. A fairly boring choice but few of those and oblivion awaits.

    Porn Star Martini

Everything else I have ever drink in my life pales into insignificance... as long as it is an original (these are the signature cocktail of a small collection of bar-straunts in London but are now being ripped off everywhere)

I can't get the link to the place I drink them to work but here is the correct recipe
