Films that you have to watch when they are on TV

What I mean is when you see this film is on TV you have to watch it, even though you've seen it umpteen times before and there's probably something new on another channel or you've even got it on DVD/Blu-Ray.

For me it's...

Alien
Aliens
Shawshank Redemption
Superman
Most of the TOS Star Trek films (not 5!)
The Thing
Amelie
The original Star Wars films
Galaxy Quest
Pitch Black
Braveheart
Forrest Gump
The Matrix
Terminator 2

Limitless. It's been on C4 a couple of times in the past 2 years and I always watch it even though I have the DVD.

Although I own them on DVD and Bluray, the last 2 in 3D, I only seem to watch the 'Harry Potter' movies when they are on TV.

There's something about watching them at the same time as everybody else.

    Jaws
    The Thing (1982)
    Tremors

No matter how far into the film I have managed to catch them I will always watch them. Even though The Thing and Tremors are staples of ITV2,3,4.

Weirdly, it's 'Notting Hill' for me.

I've never been a big fan of Hugh Grant at all, but I love this film.

The Bourne movies (Matt Damon ones). Can never remember which is which mind. :D

    Dr Strangelove
    Some Like It Hot
    Cage aux Folles
    Unforgiven

I watch them when they're broadcast but I have them all on DVD.....

Heat & The French Connection, pretty much without fail.

Though my default setting seems to be old-fashioned wartime thick-ear:

    Where Eagles Dare
    Kelly's Heroes
    Von Ryan's Express
    The Heroes of Telemark
    The Eagle Has Landed
(I'll even give Escape to Athena a spin even though it's absolute tosh).

    Also some B/W faves:

    The Lavender Hill Mob
    I Know Where I'm Going
    Great Expectations ("What larks!")
    Quatermass 2
    Psycho
    The Invisible Man

I even get annoyed if they aren't on BBC and I have to endure the adverts, but yet I also cannot be arsed to put the DVD on !

I've got a strange compulsion to watch ***the thing*** (everytime it hits the airwaves) aswell! ... Must have seen it dozens of times during my lifetime!

At moment on Sky I get sucked into the following every time when flicking...

    Amazing Burt Womdersone
    Die Hard
    Die Hard 2
    Django Unchained
    Back to the Future 3
    Skyfall
    Ghostbusters
    Despicable Me 2
    Star Trek into Darkness

Star Wars (any of them) or the Bourne films...always on ITV and whenever I flick on, I'm hooked until the credits roll

That said, I'm a sucker for most films regardless of how many times I've seen them especially scifi or feature length cartoons as I have kids and we're all like gold fish when they appear!
