This should be the shortest thread ever as IMO there's nothing to appreciate in the over blown over rated self indulgent shite that's rap and hip hop.

Yep, I'll go along with that. Rap is a refuge for those devoid of any musical ability whatsoever.

Rap and hip hop doesn't even deserve to be mentioned on a music forum.

    Complete and utter shite.
Would have been a shame without the ignorant masses joining this thread, you didn't disappoint thankfully!

I absolutely love that song (I've been playing it on repeat and i'm yet to tire of it!). Before this i also came across 'Who dat' and 'Work it', which are pretty good too but i'm not completely sold on him.

Eminem is still a favorite of mine, him being the breakout star of my childhood. Recently i've really got into Kanye West, Common and Childish Gambino. I must say, for me to listen to rap, i need to be hearing something with a message because the girl chasing stuff doesn't really do it for me.

    Which one?

Same here, people who slate rap music wouldn't so much if they looked a little deeper into it!

    It's a great album!

Can't wait for his follow up album. J-Cole is hot atm.

This is a few years old, but i really do like the song - Ti ft Eminem - That's all she wrote - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgiYaThRRNM Ti's album version.

Same song just different, more 'hardcore' Em verses - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XJezM-mCyk

'Me Against the World' was Tupac's finest album by far.

I've been listening to J Cole and Angel Haze lately too, as well as Immortal Technique and Kendrick Lamar. Though I'm not a fan of Jay Z or Kanye West, I loved their album Watch the Throne.

2Pac, Biggie, Nas, Dr Dre, NWA, all classics. Oh, and Public Enemy of course.

However my most favourite rapper is one majority of people have never heard of - Greydon Square, an unsigned atheist/secular rapper. He promotes science and rational thinking - and hates record labels, lol. Here are a couple of songs by him.

Btw, regarding the hate for hip hop, isn't it against the rules of the forum to trash on an appreciation thread?

One could argue I guess this isn't in the the 'Music Appreciation' forum so it's fair game

Ok, maybe i should of put this in the 'music appreciation' forum, i apologise for that.

But if people dis-like rap music so much, why even waste your time posting in 'The Rap/Hip Hop Appreciation' thread anyway? Regardless of where it's situated. It's a thread for those who like Rap music, not a 'what do you think of rap music thread'

Some really great song choices on this thread, nice to appreciation of a brilliant genre. I do love the odd delinquent song/artist (love 50 cent) especially some of his earlier work on 'power of the dollar'. Other than him I listen to Nas, Tupac, Eminem, Game an artist called Zero he's got some beautiful songs, but I could listen to BIggie all day every day. My new faves are J Cole and Kendrik Lemar. Eve's albums let there be Eve is one of my favourites, lil Kim, foxy brown all the ladies of hip hop. Not I repeat NOT Nicki Minaj. When I see her win another hip hop award I get angry inside. I like the odd Jay Z song, Kayne Wests first album is still a classic. My OH is trying to brain wash me with Lil Boosie, I've resisted so far and he's ratchet as all hell but there's a few tunes that I like ssshhh don't tell him!

I like the old skool. Tupac, Biggie, DMX.. Ja Rule :p:o (but a lot would count ja as a rapper)

What's happened to DMX? Is he still making music? He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. The same goes for Ja Rule as well actually.

From his latest album (2012) I like these.

    It flopped apparently.

I'm slowly getting into Kendrick  Been listening to 'B**** don't kill my vibe' all day lol and I'm feeling Poetic Justice, but haven't really listened to him apart from the commercial stuff. Everyone seems to like him though :o

Kanye West's first album, I agree was his best.. College Dropout right? Also thought Graduation was a really good record for him aswell.

WOW, Sing About Me I'm Dying of Thirst is the best song on the album! Maybe you skipped because you thought 12 minutes so it's overly long but it's REALLY not! Definitely my favourite on the album.:p
