  We managed 6 months without her, and so have the characters, but thats just me, I'm not really a fan of Dot, never have been, tbh, Only Pauline,

  I LOVED Pauline Fowler- if Wendy were alive and TPTB had taken the foolhardy decision to ruin a legend (and the longest serving character of the time), Pauline would still be alive.
  
  Though if she was, we wouldn't have had Zainab.
  
  At least TPTB seem to have learned from their mistake with Ian (though because of them he is the only original character who has been their continuously)
