Contraceptive implant pain

I had the contraceptive implant in my arm about two years ago, so it should last another year. For the past week or so I've been having stabbing pains in the area of the implant which I can't think of a cause for. It doesn't hurt when I press in the area and it feels like it's in the same place as always. The pain comes randomly three or four times a day.
I will go and see my GP if it's still happening after a few weeks, but in the meantime have any other women experienced this so long after it was implanted?
