Because she might not get the roles she does if it was well known she was gay, gay actors and actresses often get type cast, the old stereotype that gay actors can't play a straight role believably, which is stupid since it's called acting, after all.

Geri Halliwell is bi as far as I've heard (she seems to go back and forth on whether she admits it though). There are rumours that her and Mel B were together and when they split up it was why Geri left the Spice Girls.
