Yeah, I love BSB they are the ultimate boy band. I still do think 1D needs an expensive video just to show they can do something else rather than running on the beach like 5 little puppies.

An expensive video doesn't guarantee good sales. What is the point of making an expensive video only for the single to tank?

Mumford and sons said they weren't expecting to win the award because they felt they had strong competition, I didn't see any laughing, but if you lot want to make it out to be something else, then feel free.

Their album Take Me Home in my opinion is probably one of the best albums to be released last year, with great pop songs, not pretentious. They understand their target market and that is one of the reasons for their success.

They have achieved what no other X factor contestant has achieved (yes!, I said it) and it's about time people start accepting their success, you don't have to like them, just accept it.

The op said that they are successful. Just spend more money on the videos.

I guess I also saw different from what you saw. Didn't they like laugh when said 1D?

Anyways on the topic, I think the Japanese have really good videos.

Well, the OP gives with one hand and takes away with the other.
The 1D fans will obviously not have seen laughing, but the non fans would have, you can look at it any way you want.

Did you actually read what I wrote in my posts because it doesn't feel like it. Fans need to learn that any artist can be rightfully criticized, it doesn't mean that I want to hate them. I just think they can improve on certain areas and they have to improve because they are the biggest band in the world. Their videos are the weak point in my opinion.

Not everything is black or white you know. Little Mix is my favourite pop band and I love criticizing them (i.e. trying to see where they can improve).

Exactly. This has actually been a largely positive thread about 1D with some discussion about things they can do to improve. I genuinely can't understand how any 1D fan could be offended by it. Discussing things in a less than highly complimentary way does NOT make someone bitter, or jealous, or deluded. How boring would this forum be if people weren't allowed to voice their opinion?

I actually thought the OP was clear. Just suggested that as they are the biggest boy band. Spend more money on their videos. The OP was just suggesting and comparing other boybands etc.

I have no problem with your criticism, it's the giving and taking that I have a problem with. I am not a fan of the What Makes You Beautiful video either, I agree it was cheap, but it did the job, so I don't see what the problem is. If they've managed to achieve so much with all their cheap videos, obviously their fans are not that bothered.

Like I said I have no problem with the criticisms, I have criticised Littlemix a few times on here for their styling and look in general as well.

    LolZ!!

1D fans i'm sure would like to give their thanks for the concern and suggestions. only for a year or so, 1D had been doing it their cheap way and it WORKED!! and a BIG THANKS to the directioners for helping shape the boys and the fandom for better or for worse (in the eyes of those from the outside).:p

but now that 1D is seemingly ready to accommodate people from outside the fanbase, i guess, gee, thanks for the advise!! ;)

but we won't regret what we've had so far... it's totality-- bumps, growing pains included-- is what makes this THE DIRECTIONERS' fandom.:D

I want to be a fan of 1D but their videos are not up to par with their status. I absolutely love BSB so why not 1D ? I'm eagerly waiting for THE video or THE song. I am not satisfied yet.

i'm sorry you're coming in a year or so late...

you missed how this fandom was built from the ground up...

for starters, one of its tenets is this boyband is not a copy of 90s boybands and they are definitely not dancing in synchrony!! that is just soo staged, soo earnest, soo phoney... directioners like to think their band is more spontaneous, young and fun!!;)

so if you really like to like 1D, first step is to take 1D as they are and NOT COMPARE them to anybody else...:)

good luck... as Directioners say, this IS the deadliest of fandoms.

So we don't compare them. So we can't analyze and see what they can do to improve. So they won't take any good ideas from other bands, so they won't evolve, they will always be 18 years old running on the beach.

I really hope for a song as anthemic as "what makes you beautiful" (but not a copy of it) for their next album. While I love the 2cond album, I don't think that any song from that album had as much as an impact as their 1st single.
And if the theme of the song lends itself to it, a big production video (even with special effects) could deffinitly open 1D to a new audiance, and I think that it could be good for them.

it will all come in it's own time. boys are getting better as seen live last night-- mark my word "more perfect" songs and videos are on the horizon.

personally, as a fan, i still enjoy the boys' videos and it's doubly fun to know there's so much room for improvement!! :D

I guess everyone reacts differently, I find all opinions welcome (as long as they are balanced and not a simple "they s*ck!").

I think LWWY had quite an impact in the US and many regarded Little Things as their best yet.

the T&C forbids excessive lolzing and the use of the phrase 'that's you're opinion', or if they don't they should;)

I just saw their new video, it's so not "purely made by them" lol. Fair enough that it's not as scripted as their previous ones and do seem like "self-filming" during some of the shots, but it's so obvious that experienced/specialised people were involved in the filming. That said, I do think it's a really fun video though.

Tbh, I think they make better videos with smaller budges if their later videos are anything to go by. I mean, they went aboard to shoot the WMJB video, yes there was the sea and beach, but the video feels really boring and lazy, they basically just jump around on the beach and... that's it. Whereas in their later videos (One Thing, Kiss You) they actually seem to put in some effort to "act".
