Maybe I'm overthinking this (non) story but it seems to me it may have been leaked to distract from the trend there seems at the minute for them keeping unpopular characters so they make noises about letting a popular character go but decide to keep them thus supposedly listening to the public. I doubt there was ever any real suggestion of her going :rolleyes:
Sounds about right. Axe blanche and inflict the Windass family on us!!!! Smart move for 2009. Blanche can act most of them off the screen to be honest. She's one of the most believable characters in the show. Shame the Windass family didn't move next door to her. she would have given them what for in no time if they'd gatecrashed her

There's no way they can get rid of Blance, she's by far the funniest character!
If it's about cost cutting they should be looking no further than the dreadful Rawsie & the equally dreadful "Auntie Pam".

I can't believe axing Blanche was ever an option!!!
She is a fantastic character and has some of the best and funny lines. She is an amazing character and I love Blanche- one of the best characters in Coronation Street!

So they considered writing a character out, amongst other options, as I'm sure they consider for many characters all the time.
Why can't they just say that? Because it's not very interesting. So they write "Blanche in Axe Shock!" to make something out of nothing.
