Keyboard on Iplayer app

I have plugged in a usb wired keyboard and on the YouTube app I can scroll around with the arrows and type in the search box fine. The app works OK. But on the BBC Iplayer app I can scroll with the arrows but can't type using the keyboard. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

I think it's the app that's the problem; nothing else. I don't think you can use a keyboard with the Freeview version either.
