Neighbours is the first Aussie soap to reach the milestone, and the fifth international soap after Days Of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Young & The Restless, and Coronation Street.
Despite being a massive milestone, there won't be too much hype around the episode, since more focus is going to the looming 30th anniversary, which is only 145 days away! :o

The episode will air in the UK in a fortnight, and will feature several comedy storylines, just like classic Neighbours. The milestone will be marked by Karl winning $7000 on a scatchcard.

when will the others catch up and what episode are we on now for Hollyoaks, Home and Away etc...

Corrie is nearly on 8500 episodes. Emmerdale celebrated 7000 episodes last week. H&A is just over 6000 and EE is nearly at 5000.

Home and Away celebrated it's 6000th recently with a storyline involving the show's original family - when Alf held a bedside vigil for Roo after she fell ill.

Yes. Neighbours overtook Emmerdale in April 1992. it's taken all this time (well since Emmerdale went to five episodes in October 2000 really, then six in 2004) for Emmerdale to catch Neighbours back up again!
