Incredible to think that this version is far more soulful than the Jackson's poptastic version of the Mick Jackson original .

Not my favourite Jackson's song to be honest and I much prefer Mick's follow-up single Weekend which I bought on vinyl .

Next a B-side from Nancy Sinatra - the other side of These Boots ....

The City Never Sleeps At Night . Played this to death when I was very young .

Never heard that before ram. Even after one listen I must say it's excellent. Nancy has a great voice, and it's nice to hear something 'new' from her. Great

    ...............................................................

Now a song that I loved from staying in the US during the 80's. Don't think it made it over here (not sure) but I have fond memories of this song as a youngster.

    Let' Celebrate ~ Skyy (1981)

A topper !! This is my kinda music - yet again . Download land beckons yet again . Cannot fault it . Not even a sax solo !!

Change of mood here - takes me back - pity the performance is out of synch though .

Classic Glam Rock. Sounds like Slade - and that's a good thing for me. Love the heavy bass line. Not heard it for many years. Very good.

Another from when I lived over the pond.

Ain't No Doubt About It ~ Today Tomorrow forever (1980)

I shall try to post a different genre soon I promise :o

Really enjoyed that - another new song / new group to me .

Next up a dance classic from the early 80s .

Sylvester / Patrick Cowley - Menergy

Love it. Needless to say that is a fav of mine. Still sounds great today.

    ............................................................

In an attempt to change the genre that I keep posting - here's a song that is not soul/funk.

Spiders And Snakes ~ Jim Stafford (1974)

    Not bad, quite good

    Dear Friend, Paul McCartney

    One of his forgotten classics.

Not mad on McCartney personally but that was very pleasant although it did meander quite a bit.

Next up a timeless classic, scandalously neglected when it came out a few years back

We Won't Have To Be Lonesome- Micah P Hinson

Crikey Micah is a man ! Assumed incorrectly it would be a lady. Loved the playing on this very pleasant tune .

By the way I adore Spiders and Snakes - the song - not that crazy about the creatures !

Will check out the McCartney effort presently .

My next choice is a bit dated but I love it :-

I'd forgotten about that song. I always remember 'Tracy' but this one is just as if not better. Ron Dante of the Cufflinks sang the vocals on 'Sugar Sugar' by the Archies (bit of trivia there) ;) I really like it.

    ..............................................................

Very early Jeffrey Osborne now. Before he was a solo artist of course.

(Everytime I Turn Around) Back In Love Again ~ L.T.D (1977)

Has Jeffrey Osbourne ever done a bad song.
Very funky that- he certainly mellowed a lot over the years.

I think this would still be in my all time Top 20.

Brilliant !! Thta's me up to 5 tunes downloaded and all of them quality . I love this track - not just the quality vocals but the backing track is wonderful - very fresh and lucid . Why was this not a hit in the UK ? At times I despair of the record-buying public .

Next a track which was kept on the album and not released as a single much to my chagrin back in 1983 !

    Shalamar - Right here .

Not familiar with that. Fantastic stuff. I don't think Shalamar have ever done a song I don't like to be honest.

    .......................................................................

Not sure if anyone will like this. Don't be put off by the first minute or so - it does calm down.

Have faith Jimmy - first minute certainly didn't put me off . This was like a cross between Man 2 Man vs Village People and I loved it !

Never heard it before and glad I got in first to 'review' it .

What about Linx - I can't help myself - a flop from 1981 much to my disgust as this is my favourite Linx song .

Hope this plays OK as it kept stopping when I downloaded it .

 Gawd that was one loud video. I had to peel the cat off the ceiling after I clicked it.

Brilliant song. I really like David Grant. You're right ram, this song should have done far better than it did. Thumbs up.

    ..................................................................

Boney M now. This is the first track on the 'Oceans Of Fantasy' album I love this album.

    Make that 6 downloads now ! :)
This is simply awesome . I'm about to play it again - it was that good . Why was this not a single ? Probably my favourite of all the songs posted by other people on this thread . Cheers for that Jimmy.

Now for something totally different ; another B-side - this time the B-side of the Cure's Close to me - A man inside my mouth .

Although R&B and dance is my favourite genre I do occasionally branch out into Rock and Indie land . Enjoy

Love the Cure - never heard that before - and it's a good 'un. Love the bass line and as usual the unique Cure sound is there.

A favourite of mine. Sounds like the Stylistics, but they are just as good.

You seem to have a never ending supply of these Jim- and thats fine by me.
An absolute belter - as you say very Stylistics but you can't go far wrong if you follow that template.

Don't know how well known this is but a truly beautiful and moving song from 1997

That was fantastic Hayden. Never heard of him before - what a voice though. Loved it.

Very early Phill Fearon now, Before Kandidate and Galaxy. I used to play this to destruction.

Not so keen on this one Jimmy . It started off fine - but by the time the sax solo kicked in I was beginning to lose interest .

Cannot win them all - I suppose . Maybe Hayden will like it .

You can never knock a bit of Phil Fearon, never heard that one before, and while not one of my favourites of his, it passed a pleasant 5 minutes.

The Heatwave track used to be a real favourite and I haven't heard it for years,
    Superb stuff

Something a bit different now. You'll either love this or hate it. I think it's great.

Honest opinion; very cheesy and ever so slightly scary!

Her voice is very deep, it's quite disconcerting. Not really my taste.

Have always loved the Jerry Keller song . How short were songs back then! Not as short as the next one I am about to post which finishes prematurely and then starts off once again .

    Ricky Nelson - Travelin' man

and by the way another thumbs up for Amanda Lear - loved every
    second of it ! :)

Love it. Ricky Nelson is a very accomplished performer. Funny how we got that song twice. :) I am not complaining though ... really enjoyed it.
