You're looking for logic in a film that doesn''t have any.
the ONLY reason this film got made was as a favor to Lorraine Gary by her husband Sid Sheinberg, who waspresident/COO of Universal pictures. He discovered Spielberg and is behind many of Spielbergs film successes.
It was a vanity project for her, probably given as a 'thankyou' by her hubby to appease her. I believe in Jaws 2, she was supposed to have had a larger role, but it got whittled down at the time.
Having read the book of Jaws: The Revenge I can categorically tell you that the sharks in Jaws 3 & 4 are siblings and the off-spring of the original shark, traumatically born when their mother was blown up by Chief Brody.
If you think the film is bad, try reading the book.
There are so many James Bond threads on the board at the moment for a minute I thought this one was going to be about a Richard Kiel spin off. I'm dissapointed.
And now want to see Jaws the Revenge and it sounds so bad it might be entertaining!
