The singles good - bit of a slow burner though. Video is super weird (which is good) and harks back to his Berlin era.
And I laughed out loud when I saw the album cover!
By the way, its his birthday today!!!:D:D
I'm absolutely giddy about the news. I've been listening to the new single on loop most of the morning, and can't wait for March. I entered the Bowie scene a little too late (summer 2004), after his last album Reality and after his health problems. Now I'm glad to say I can look forward to a whole new Bowie album, and I'll be totally grateful he found the energy to end the 10 year lull of music, although I won't say no to a tour, but one thing at a time regardless. I await more details later today.
BTW: he was in the video. His face was on one of the puppets and appears properly towards the end.
Been a Bowie fan since the 70's, and was shocked to hear that he'd come out of retirement. I always thought there would be a new album, but more likely something held back while he was still alive.
Heard the whole track on Six Music's Sean Keavney breakfast show, and was underwhelmed. I kept waiting for it to get better, or produce a killer hook, but all I heard was pretty meandering. Quite disappointing.
That said, there's a whole new album coming! Given that his last proper album, Reality, contained some fantastic tracks, I'm thinking that 'The Next Day' surely must have something fab on it.
I just listened to it..
And thought" well its ok"
Maybe i will grow to love it?
I like Bowie Its just I don't find myself wanting to listen to the new song again and again..
Was that the three tuns in Beckenham??
And back on topic I thought that David had retired due to ill health. So glad that perhaps things are a little better,
Yes the location he does describes like "Dschungel", "Nürnberger Straße", "Potsdammer Platz" etc. are from Berlin of the 70's
Can't wait for the album release!!!
hmmm, that had crossed my mind, but it's hard to comment on one slow song I guess
The whole album will of course be the judge, not on his ability to compose songs, but on his current ability to sing.
