For the same reasons you might want to have guy friends - who you don't feel the need to shag/get involved with?

So girls are only good for relationships not as friends?

I love having girls as friends. Sometimes they are best.

I feel the same about having man friends. I'm one of those 'men and women can't just be friends' people. My friends think thats ridiculous and insist they can, but their track records say otherwise.

MOST immature opening post to a thread I've seen here.

If you are sad enough to be friends only with members of the same sex then go ahead, more fool you.

My best friend is a bloke (I am a female) we have never fancied each other, I think the point is well, he's my friend and I am his.

If the OP says he couldn't have a girl as a friend, it's probably true - for him.

Until he's old enough to shave, anyway. ;)

A few of my very closest friends are female. No sexual attraction at all. It is possible to have a platonic friend of the opposite sex OP.

My closest friends are split pretty equally between the genders.
Most of us met at uni and there were some fairly short lived relationships in the early days but we've remained a close knit group for about 12 years since any of that was happening. I value good friendship from either sex.

Are you talking about women in general or a particular type of woman? I do not understand the above sentence.

    He's a man, he's not fussy.

That sounds bad, I dont mean you're not up to his standard...

    Im gonna stop talking now....

Have you ever noticed that a lot of fiction tries to throw close friends of opposite sex together? I wonder if this is why people think its impossible for close friends of an opposite sex to remain platonic?

    :D Aye, probably best.

He doesn't see me as a female though, just as me. I pride myself on being the only female he hasn't fancied.

prob a good idea:D:D Of course men and women can be 'just' friends, it is a bit immature to think otherwise
